Clare Valley’s Jim Barry is a name known around the world – a byword for quality and wine expertise. A founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wine, the Barry family celebrated the 60th anniversary of its winery in 2020, the year it also scooped the title of Halliday’s ‘Winery of the Year’. Over three generations the Barry name has been famous throughout the wine world and synonymous with the Clare Valley. Jim Barry bought his first vineyard here in 1959, and even helped the Taylor family open their winery a decade later. Son Peter took over Jim Barry in 1985, and today brothers Tom and Sam, with sister Olivia, have raised the bar even higher.Their range includes flawless Riesling (think Florita), unique Assyrtiko – a Greek white grape Peter introduced to Australia in 2016 – and exciting reds, including the iconic $350+ Armagh Shiraz. Who are you is a deceptively attractive 93pts blend (65% Shiraz and 35% Mataro) taking an old school work-horse variety (Mataro) to pump up the volume on classic Clare Valley Shiraz... this is classy, complex and finely crafted. "... with plump mouthfeel backed by silky texture and beautifully melded tannins, offering excellent drinking. 93pts” (Sam Kim Wine Orbit). Ray Jodan, Wine Pilot agrees: "The seductive appeal is evident immediately the vibrant burst of red fruits leaps from the glass. A spicy and slightly savoury edge sits snuggly with the plump plummy cherry flavours of the palate. There’s a delicious, sweet fruit character on the finish. By the Bend of a Brook is a vineyard planted to produce single block wines, where just about everything from the pruning, weeding & picking is done by the sweat of manual labour and a barking Kelpie. Only this fruit is in the SL Cab Sav. A lighter, fresher style of Cabernet,hand-picked with subtle oak. The wine was made in the Mediterranean style for casual, easy drinking. At a vineyard altitude of 400 metres above sea level the Adelaide Hills allows grapes to develop to full ripeness while retaining fresh cool-climate acidity and elegance.

Inspired by those delectable, food friendly blends from the south of France we have crafted a fresh and aromatic GSM that greets the drinker with savoury earthy aromas and succulent strawberries followed by hints of rosehip and fresh herbs. The true craft of the winemaker is the intricate art of blending. This wine is a prime expression of that artistic talent; the weaving together of various elements to enhance and complement each other resulting in a finished product far greater than the individual components. A cracker wine, fresh and juicy possessing crunchy tannins and savoury fresh mushroom character. The mid palate is full of floral red-currant fruit, with some choc-mint and fresh leather on the finish. This wine is unfiltered and matured for 10 months in older oak to preserve maximum primary fruit lift and intensity. An accessible wine of surprising length and complexity totally slurpable (yes it IS a word).

Sourced from up to 100 year old bush vine Grenache. Deep dark red core with black shaded edges and a bright red hue. Sailing from the glass are vibrant aromatics of raspberry, red cherry and red liquorice infused with fresh herbs followed by some delicate spicy earth notes. Rich succulent dark raspberry, ripe cherry and red liquorice fruits are delivered with excellent intensity across the mid weighted palate. Subtle notions of scorched earth and peppered dried herbs lie underneath. Polished tannins finishing with a nicely balanced youthful freshness and long juicy aftertaste. The Lodge Hill vineyard is a masterstroke of the Jim Barry range of wines. Adding yet another layer of complexity to this producer's arsenal, Lodge Hill (at 480m) is one of the highest vineyards in the Clare, and sends down a bath of chocolate infused blackberries with liquorice spice. A gorgeous wine.

This Cabernet Sauvignon from premium South Australian vineyards is a complex, full bodied, dry Cabernet that is matured in French and American oak offering berry fruit flavours and subtle oak tannins.

This great Clare Valley Rose opens up with cherry and strawbery succulent red berry fruit flavours. The wine is a great balance with ripe red fruits and a savoury, spicy edge which makes it easy on the palate and perfect for 'al fresco' dining.

The wine has a seductive, lifted with aroma characterised by plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry fruits along with subtle chocolate and a touch of oak derived spice. The palate is rich, luscious and round with intense, perfectly ripened fruit characters. Mocha coffee and subtle spice characters complement generous fruit flavours of plum and blackberry. The wine is medium to full-bodied with a soft mid-palate and supple tannins. It has a well-balanced structure with great texture, good length and lashings of fruit on the finish.
