Winemaker Paul Gordon is making good use of the beautifully sited mature Hamilton vineyards to produce superb McLaren Vale reds such as this ripe robust deeply flavoured Cabernet.

Dark cherry red, with a deep violet hue, this is an incredibly aromatic varietal cabernet. Showing great intensity with bright berry fruits and mashed raspberry, together with licorice spice and espresso coffee. The palate is vibrant and fresh, building with layers of fruit, toasty oak and fine Cabernet tannins. It finishes with hints of anise spice, dark cocoa and cassis fruit.

Planted in the late 19th century, the High Trellis vineyard was the first d'Arenberg vineyard to be trained above knee height. For the past four decades, a Cabernet Sauvignon has been produced from the vineyard to critical acclaim, even winning the Jimmy Watson trophy in 1969. Something that d'Arry reminds current winemaker, and son, Chester about often!

Produced from low yielding, hand harvested vines and made using traditional techniques, D'Arry's Original is a smooth, textured, full bodied red which typifies the generous McLaren style. Always one of those little cellar stars that you can buy up a case or two, hide under the house for a decade and be quietly content that d'Arry's Original will be shining in a decade.

Cherry & mint aromas & chocolate oak dominate the nose & carry through to the full, round palate, that finishes with soft velvety tannins. Decant wine & allow to breathe before enjoying. Ben Riggs has hand-crafted a delicious Shiraz Cabernet Merlot blend here that pays homage to the three-spiked prickle that can be found in the McLaren Vale region and the fact that it's hard to ignore. This unctuous red blend is also extremely hard to ignore with its seamless varietal integration that produces a wine full of richness and opulence. Ripe, dark berry fruits courtesy of Merlot along with spice elements from the Shiraz and a firm, but balanced structure from the Cabernet all come together superbly.

Deep garnet in colour, this wine has aromas of blueberries and violets perfectly integrated with vanillin American Oak. Firm structure carries through to fine tannins, its a wine best enjoyed with your favourite culinary delight. Enjoy now or cellar for 7-10 years.

The rich and full-bodied Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon, named after a neighbouring road, is based on "parent of the Reynell Clone" material, renowned for its low yield, violet blackcurrant aromas and naturally high acidity. This is a classic "best-of-vintage" Australian-style Cabernet Sauvignon, with a great reputation for aging. Typically it shows intense mulberry, violet, cedar aromas with rich cassis, plum, dark chocolate flavours, muscular tannins and underlying savoury oak. After vinification in headed-down open fermenters, fermentation is completed in barrel. 18 months maturation in new and old French oak follows. Older wines may show a touch of earthy, sage, mint characters.
