Made as a fruit-driven enjoy now style, this Devil's Corner Pinot from Tasmania's Tamar region shows layers of dusty cherry, well integrated spices and subtle oak on the palate. Innocent Bystander eminates from Victoria's Yarra Valley and is the brain child of owner, Phil Sexton. With winemaker Steve Flamsteed on board, the Innocent Bystander wines are fantastically varietal and extremely approachable. The Pinot Noir is packed full of black cherry and cedary notes with a perfect balance of soft, but fine grained tannin.

The Tar & Roses Tempranillo is a great example of what 20 year old Tempranillo vines are achieving in Australia. On the nose there are juicy rich mulberries, freshly dug earth with hints of blackcurrant and aniseed. The palate has impressive length, balance and structure.

Taylors produce a surprise packet of a Pinot Noir at a very attractive price. Bright cherry colour complemented by a nose of strawberry and spice. Flavours of ripe cherries follow and lingers nicely on the palate.

Oyster Bay Pinot Noir is surprisingly a serious complex Pinot. Intense cherry and gamey, earthy notes are enhanced with quality French oak and the finish is spicy savoury and long. Terrific value.

Scotchman's Hill's second label often throws up some terrific value for money. A beautiful spicy nose with cinnamon and clove elements, supported by cherry flavours and grippy tannins.

This Heathcote Sangiovese shows the classical sour cherry flavours with a balanced and integrated structure that is crying out for a antipasto plate.

Logan hails from the Mudgee region in southern New South Wales, although the Weemala Pinot Noir is from their Orange vineyards, located towards their south west. Showing brilliant red hues and cherry aromas followed by strawberry and thyme flavours with a great earthy finish.
