Chiles answer to first growth Bordeaux, Viña Seña is one of the countrys most sought after wines. In his reviews and commentary on the wine, James Suckling has played a significant role in highlighting Viña Señas credentials as world-class. While comparisons to Mouton Rothschild or Harlan can and have (again, Suckling) been made, one of the more interesting features of this wine is how well it drinks when young. For a Cabernet-based blend in this class, Viña Seña leaps out of the gate showing cassis and fresh blueberries. This is altogether very gratifying but theres so much more in store. The length, depth and breadth make this a great working example of what we mean when we talk about three-dimensionality. High-wire act acidity and strong-man fruit, this circus of sensory pleasure is even more appealing considering that for the price of one Bordeaux first growth, youll have six of these. The Master pays homage to Wolf Blass's founder, Wolfgang Blass who was committed to creating outstanding wines of quality, character and consistency. This Cabernet Shiraz has complex layers of bramble berry fruits, warm spice and mocha on the nose with elegant mineral notes which combine with tightly-woven tannins and oak resulting in a wine of great personality.

The Max Schubert Cabernet Shiraz is testament to Penfolds' winemaking philosophy and the art of multi-regional blending. A wine with great complexity and length, which combines the intense red fruits with leathery oak and savoury tannins. This Penfolds will drink beautifully now yet it also has the structure for careful cellaring.

The second wine of Chateau Margaux came about partly due to misfortune - when an attack of phylloxera decimated the vineyards, necessitating a replanting of the majority of their vineyards. The lack of grapes eliminated the possibility of a First Growth Quality wine and led to the production of their second wine - the Pavillon Rouge de Chateau Margaux, the first official vintage of which was released in 1906. Renowned as a sterling example of a second wine, the 2016 has been hailed as a particularly superb vintage. Medium-bodied, silky, intense and tannic, it continues its impressive trajectory year upon year.
