Domaine Anita Moulin à Vent Très Vieille Vigne

Très Vielle Vigne translates to “ancient vines”- in the case of this wine, we’re talking 80 years old. Sitting on a steep southeast-facing slope with the trademark granitic soils of Beaujolais, these vines deliver on concentration and structure. The aspect is perfect for gentle morning ripening, and the granite lends energy to the wine. This wine is the pride of the Domaine, with deep and dark flavours and unending complexity to discover. Despite the usual thought that Beajoulais can’t age, this wine still has years of delight under the cork- particularly from the 2020 vintage. This is modern Beajoulais at its best.

David & Nadia Elpidios

We are truly blessed to have this wine in our shed. It’s from a tiny production, family-owned independent producer in Swartland, South Africa. These wines generally just don’t make it all the way to Australia. David & Nadia spent ten years preparing their old dry-farmed bush vines to be ready to produce a wine of this calibre, letting the vineyard do the talking by acting with minimal intervention in the winery. There’s grenache, syrah, carignan, cinsault and pinotage in the blend, all laid to rest in oak for a year. The wine is so complex, so layered and so compelling. Enjoy it while you can since something like this doesn’t come around very often.

Kaesler Avignon Red Blend

Medium bodied, this blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre has an ensemble of red and black berries on the front and middle palate, with hints of savoury spice on the finish.
