Les Forts de Latour is the wonderful second label of the famous Château Latour of Pauillac. Les Forts lacks none of the legendary power and concentration of its elder brother although it is approachable at a much earlier age. Rich Cabernet influence dominates this wine that comes from Latour fruit that doesn't make the grand vin as well as the younger vine material. The 2009 is considered one of the truly great vintages in living memory and it is in these years that secondary wines like this Forst de Latour really shine. This affordable red immediately caught out attention having been rated 98 points by Italian wine critic Luca Maroni. The word appassimento is Italian for "withering" and refers to a method of wine production in which grapes are dried for several weeks after harvest in special storage racks. The liquid evaporates and the aromas intensify with the concentrated fruit. A blend of Negroamaro (80%) and Primitivo (20%). Ruby red with orange reflections. Intense and complex with notes of ripe fruit and spices. Dry wine with good texture and supple tannins. Perfect with spicy pasta, red meat and mature cheeses.

Caiarossa is an original blend of 7 different varieties harmoniously put together to reflect the complexity of its outstanding terroir; Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon make the majority of the blend. The estate is made up of a variety of vineyards (which have been managed following organic and biodynamic principles since 1998) specifically tailored according to differences in soil, altitude and exposure. Caiarossa - since 2004 - has been part of the Albada Jelgersma family, which also owns the historic Chateau Giscours in Margaux. Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Delightful red to black currant and dark cherry aromas rise from the glass complimented by hints of liquorice, vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco characters, dried herbs and spice. Rich, amply powered and bold yet wonderfully structured, the medium to full bodied palate is engulfed with blackcurrant and dark cherry fruits that are held within a robust tannin framework. Infusions of dried herbs, earthy cedar, tobacco and spice add complexity. Finishes dry and firm with loads of red to dark fruit lingering through the long sturdy aftertaste. Cellar 6-8 years. Produced almost exclusively in the southern region of Puglia, Italy, Appassimento is a the process of drying out the grapes whilst still on the vine. This tradition was historically used in the Veneto region in the production of Amarone, and goes back many centuries With this, lovely Primitivo and Negroamaro fruit, are naturally dried on the vine for 25 days, allowing a higher concentration of sugar and lets the water out, combined with a long period of cement age to create a supple wine full of ripe black fruits with complex hints of spice, vanilla, and raisins. De'Conti Appassimento 100X100 is a strong but fruity red with with a soft and almost sweet tannic structure. To obtain a well balanced wine, they have added Apulian Negroamaro and Sangiovese fruit.
