Lark Hill have a history in the Canberra District region of over 30 years and today that legacy has been continued on by founder's Sue & Dave Carpenter's son, Chris. Located 30km North East of Canberra, Lark Hill's wines are certified bio-dynamic and have an ethereal, almost pure nature to them. Te Rehua is the warmest and richest of the Escarpment vineyards, producing a classically structured Pinot Noir with ample volume of ripe red berry fruit. A single vineyard wine, the Te Rehua is sourced from the 1.1 ha Barton Vineyard anchored on the deep alluvial gravels of the Martinborough Terrace. The wine is fermented in traditional open topped wooden vats and regularly hand plunged before undergoing maturation in 30% new French oak for 12 months. The wine is fined but not filtered.

Yabby Lake Pinot Noir has an intense and complex aroma with great depth of character. Bursting with red and dark fruits, the wine is fine and complex with a long, juicy palate. There is excellent persistence on the polished finish.

This has been a leading light for Central Otago for Pinot Noir, displaying perfumed ripeness with piercing clarity; dark fruits of the forest dominate the aroma, underpinned by floral and spice notes. Red fruit aromatics are underpinned by cherry and Christmas cake spice while the palate is well textured.

The palate is rich and mouth filling, with up front fruit sweetness balanced by a fine juicy acidity. Notes of dark berry fruits, exotic spice and toast fill the mid palate framed by fine chalky tannins before finishing with lingering suggestions of earth and mushrooms.
