Biodynamic. Théo Riesling comes exclusively from the monopole Le Clos des Capucins—a vineyard that takes its name from the Capuchin friars who arrived in the area in 1619—at the base of the celebrated Schlossberg hill. The clos is well protected from winds by the surrounding hills and walls. The soils are sand, alluvial pebbles and granitic gravel. The low-cropping vines typically offer up a supple and pithy Riesling that is wonderfully accessible when young—a reflection of these sandy soils. As with all Weinbach dry Rieslings, this was pressed as whole bunches, fermented without any yeast additions, and matured in very old oak casks for, in this case, 10 months.

Appearance: A bright golden color with green highlights, adorned with fine bubbles that create a delicate white foam. Aroma: The aroma is both powerful and subtle, with floral notes of acacia and lime blossom intertwined with citrusy lemon and hints of resin. Its finesse is further revealed through subtle peppery and minty undertones. Taste: The palate offers a harmonious balance of structure, length, and vibrancy, showcasing the minerality characteristic of a fine Chardonnay.

A fine and quite flinty modern expression of Margaret River Chardonnay. Finer and leaner it might be in some ways, but the unmistakable power and persistence of the region still triumphs. Complex mealy grapefruit and roasted nut characters on the nose, and a deep and richly intense palate power through to the finish.

Occasionally, when rare parcels of particularly outstanding Beechworth grapes become available, Savaterre's wine maker Keppell Smith likes to create something unique, like this Chardonnay, and bottle it under Savaterre's Frere Cadet (Younger Brother) label. These wines are created with the same attention to detail that goes into their premium Savaterre label.

Champagne Philipponnat is a relatively expressive house style, balancing lively citrus and peach characters with some yeasty savoury characters, the palate has great length and finesse, a class act!

Yering Station Reserve wines are produced only in years of outstanding quality. The chardonnay is prodominetly sourced from D block on wineries estate.
