This is the 1st release of the Serafino Sorrento Chardonnay, a wine that takes a modern twist with exciting new labelling and refreshing winemaking. Sorrento is one Italys most famous towns and one of Serafino (Steve) Maglieris favourite beaches. Brokenwood continue to push the boundaries with their Chardonnay - this release sees the majority of fruit sourced from the exciting Beechworth region and winemaking inputs emphasise complexity.

Petaluma use their impressive vineyard holding in the Adelaide Hills to produce a Chardonnay that shows poise and precision. Sourced from vineyards in Lenswood and Balhannah and then fermented in a combination of one and two year old French oak as well as stainless steel. Lees sturring helps add complexity and texture while the cool-climate fruit adds minerality and freshness.

Chapel Hill's Michael Fragos loves using The Parson Shiraz to showcase McLarenVale's diversity and varietal character. The Shallow soils over livestone in maritime influenced vineyards between McLaren Vale and Masline Beach and also around Bowering Hill, provide explosive blueberries and liquorice with finesse and a wonderfully framing tannin structure. Up in the foothills of the Mount Lofty ranges, a Kangarilla vineyard offers Indian spice complexities that many higher priced wines would simply love to have. The added length and savoury tannins of this component and the use of some French oak result in a beguiling final release that is extraordinary.

A true expression of Chardonnay grown at Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley in all its fruitful glory. Intense bouquet is pleasantly fruity with highlights of green pear and clingstone peach accented by the flowery notes of apple blossom against a genteel boisé background. The palate is a rush of citrus and white peach with fresh acidity. Clean, lemon-citrus and Pink Lady apples with a layer of minerality and viscosity. Evans & Tate is arguable the most famous name in Western Australia wine, and now the Tate name has been re-born in the Franklin Tate Estates wines made by esteemed winemaker, Rory Clifton-Parks. Franklin Tate himself has sought out the finest vineyard sites in the Margaret River region to deliver superb, terroir driven, wines that showcase the tradition and longevity of the Tate name, but also a modern and innovative wine-making approach. The Chardonnay was one third fermented in fine French Oak barriques delivery a soft and creamy mouthfeel, yet still with varietal lift and fine acid balance.

From the Howard Park stable comes this impressive Chardonnay sourced from Margaret River fruit. The Gold Turtle displays opulent honeyed peach flavours with a beguiling texture that lingers on the the palate for what seems like an eternity. A perfect match to Asian Fusion cuisine as well as being more than at home when enjoyed on its own.

The Serafino Fiano is a bright vibrant wine, displaying intense citrus and floral characters. The wine is crisp and refreshing with layers of flavour and a fine mouthwatering finish.

McLaren Vale and Shiraz - the perfect match. Steve Maglieri is the icon behind the Serafino name and his Shiraz is a typically wonderful full-flavoured and full-bodied red with the black and red fruits you can handle. A rich and voluptuous palate with a silken, textured finish that is a perfect match to big, rich beef dishes or a robust lamb ragu.

Shingleback owners John & Kym Davey produce a lovely, rich McLaren Vale Shiraz here with aromas of ripe cherry fruit, milk chocolate and licorice. Plush and sweet fruited on the palate, the tannins are soft and supple. Wonderful drinking.
