Langtons is proud to be first to market with the inaugural vintage of this Riesling, a selection from a very special part of the famous Contours vineyard. When it comes to Eden Valley Riesling, no name is greater than the Langtons Classified Contours Riesling from Pewsey Vale. The Contours vineyard was first planted in 1841, but the distinctive site we know today -- with vines planted along the contours of an Eden Valley hillside rather than in straight rows -- dates from the 1960s. From 1961 in fact, and this new wine comes from a single block of the oldest vines, planted in that year on a north-facing slope. The Contours Riesling is released with five years of bottle age. This new wine -- although almost equally ageworthy -- is a more approachable style and therefore suitable for release (like most other Rieslings) in the year following vintage. For many (or most) the 1961 Block Riesling will be indistinguishable from The Contours. The value here is obvious.

In true Leo Buring tradition this is another quintessential Clare Valley delight. The wine is perfect drinking as a fresh lively style and it will blossom and grow in stature as it ages.

Tinged with copper hues, the wine deals out a delightful biscuitlike nose combined with ripe strawberry and peach characters. The palate is rich and generous with a real vitality thats heightened by the creamy mouth-feel. This is a sparkling that adapts to its environment, and as such is just as enjoyable with food as it is on its own.

Not Your Grandmas Riesling has just a hint of residual sweetness which works just perfectly here. Fresh and floral, there's ample citrus and orchid fruits with perfectly balanced acidity for line and length. It works perfectly with or without food. How can something that is so light in alcohol have such incredible palate weight and texture? It's an art form and Ernst Loosen is a master. The Kabinett style means a decent lick of residual sugar, but the steely, crunchy acid means you'll hardly notice it. Simply stunning.

Temple Bruer Preservative Free Rose has loads of yummy cherry and pineapple flavours and a nice dry finish. Goes really well with sweet chilli dishes or Asian food.
