Nestled away in the far north of Scotland's Highland region is the distillery of Clynelish. Situated at Brora on the stormy North East coast, this 14 Year Old single malt has been matured in specially selected oak casks and then bottled at the full 46%. Released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin distillery by John Johnston in 1816, this eight-year-old is big and smoky, with sweet spice that becomes apparent with a drop of water. Located in Islays capital of the same name, Bowmore uses a combination of dedicated craftsmen, pure water, smoked peat and traditional manufacturing techniques to ensure that their whisky tastes the same as it did when it was first distilled in 1779. The 12 Year Old Single Malt has a nose of lifted lemon and honey that are bound together with the distinctive Bowmore smokiness. On the palate, the whisky is warm and delicious with subtle dark chocolate and peat smoke.
