The wine-growing region Nahe is situated along the River Nahe in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. A characteristic of the Nahe region os the soil diversity due to volcanic origins. Although the region was populated already in Roman times, the Nahe region was defined only in 1971 in the German wine law.
