The Bin 389 style evolved as a result of experiments, by Max Schubert, in the 1950s to develop a highly individual wine using a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz with compatible oak treatment. Bin 389 combines the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz and demonstrates the traditional Penfolds' trademark - balance between fruit and oak, giving the wine character and longevity.

When you marry the unique terroir of this ancient site and the winemaking expertise of Louis Latour domaine, the result is the rich and engaging white wine. Complex flavours of peach and nectarine flow across the palate which finishes with a minerality the envy of most Chardonnay producers. Wonderfully attractive when young - buoyant and lively - yet will age for more than a decade to reveal toasty, textured buttered notes.

Château Climens is regarded by many as the regions best wine after Yquem. Although it is slightly unfair to compare them due to their inherent differences in style and approach. Climens are known for elegance, purity and freshness, while Yquem is known for concentration and lusciousness. The 2009 vintage throughout Bordeaux can only be described as 'perfect' - Barsac in the south was no different. In the past, Château Clerc-Milon has been a rather neglected property, but has seen recent rejuvenation due to the famous Baron Phillippe de Rothschild taking charge of the estate. Named after the original owner, Clerc, and the small village in which the Château lies, Milon, the wine itself is predominated by Cabernet Sauvignon which sets it apart from another Rothschild Château, d'Armailhac. 2008 saw a Clerc-Milon of power and strength with bold, ripe fruit that will develop wonderfully in a well cared for cellar.

With 10 years on lees it is the patience to allow this wine to mature at its own pace. This excellent sparkling exhibits all the elegance, power and vibrancy that are the hallmarks of world class premium sparkling wine.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque is known throughout the world not only for their classic, complex and artisan sparkling wine, but also the magnificent artwork on each of the Belle Époque bottles. The artwork is a homage to glassmaker Emile Gallé who painted a special bottle that was found in 1902 in a nondescript cupboard gathering dust. The Belle Époque Rosé is a smooth and finely chiselled, subtle and rich wine, with myriad floral notes and a long finish, to be enjoyed as an aperitif, throughout the evening.

Iconic Tempranillo producers, Bodegas Roda, have excelled yet again here with the Roda I. Beginning quite linear on the palate, it opens up dramatically with some delicate spice and nuttyness. It will take time to flesh out completely but it will be worth the wait.
