The Ridge of Tears wines range is homage to Peter Logan's late ancestors. Ridge of Tears Mudgee Shiraz is a deep dark red coloured wine. The complex aroma of this dry red wine mixes florals, dark cherries, mulberries and plums, that further fuse with warm spices, liquorice and a little touch of fresh earth. The medium to full bodied palate displays plum, berry and spice flavours with a mineral core and grainy tannins. The palate presents a soft texture, before leading to a long finish. The wine tastes good with venison, grilled or roast beef, and strong hard cheeses especially Cheddar.

Wine is a bright dense cherry red with a tinge of brick red. The bouquet exhibits lifted spicy ripe fruit and light earthy plummy Shiraz aromas, combined with soft vanillin oak characters. Full bodied, the length of the palate is filled with plummy spicy Shiraz flavours. Fruit characters are balanced by drying oak tannins which contribute both complexity and length to the wine. With a finish that is typical of cold climate Shiraz fruit crisp, clean and elegant.An ideal wine to accompany grilled red meats, curries, lamb, light game dishes or cheese.

Colour: Garnet with vibrant dark purple and brick brown hues.Nose: Delicate hints of dark berrys and dark cocoa with undertones of clove and oriental spice resulting in hints of smoky, almond and earthy characters from oak maturation.Palate: Soft mouth entry and acidity herald rich, fruity mid-palate fruit, flavours of currant, and fine tannin. The finish is dry, with subtle sour cherry flavours.Sulphites Added 14.4% Alc/Vol

The wine is brilliant deep crimson red in colour with a tinge of brick brown. Cherry, spice and strawberry like varietal fruit aromas with sweet vanillin oak characters derived from barrel fermentation in French oak and storage of 12 months in oak. A full flavoured medium bodied wine, with great length and solid structure, offering soft cherry and plum like ripe Pinot Noir flavours, complemented by fine grained tannins and attractive lingering French oak characters finishing with a crisp acidity.

TASTING NOTESAromatic cassis, blackberry and cherry jam follow through to an opulent bull- bodied palate with toasted Vanillan oak immersed in the layers of rich dark fruits and luscious tannins.This Wine is built to Cellar for the long term.WinemakingHandpicked Cabernet Sauvignonwas cold soaked for 10 days priorto micro-fermenting in 900L French rotating barriques by wild yeast. The Barriques were rotated 9 times per day and followed by a 10 day post-ferment maceration. The free run juice and pressings were barreled separately in new oak for 18 months. Only the finest Barriques were selectively blended.

This Reserve Shiraz is a true expression of our 1976 Block N, planted by our family in 1976. A deep ruby red hue leads to aromas of glazed cherry and earth notes. the palate is medium bodied but with good concentration of black fruits, savoury tannins and great length. This Reserve Shiraz would benefit from cellaring and we recommend decanting before serving.

The wine displays a strong bouquet of blackberry and earth, with a soft but pronounced tannin structure. The hand-picked fruit was fermented in small open fermenters, and hand plunged several times daily. 2014 was an excellent vintage, and the perfect opportunity to start a flagship red. Beautiful winter rain, set us up with excellent vineyard balance. We had a great vintage, with warm conditions allowing perfect ripening across all varieties. A soft but pronounced tannin structure. On the palate ripe berries, rich fruitcake and chocolate flavours can be noted, along with a silky smooth and velvety finish. Dense fully body with an aromatic display of dark fruit, spicy oak and sweet tobacco. Lovely full bodied wine that is sweet and fruity in the mouth. Very flavoursome with well balanced oak.
