The Premier Grand Cru Classe Château Figeac has a high percentage of mature cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc vines (40+ years). This gives its wines blackcurrant aromas, robust structure and length. Made by experienced winemaker Frederic Faye, with Michel Rolland, the most famous consultant oenologist in the world, this vintage has the hallmarks of a buoyant Right Bank style.

This CDP wine features a dark ruby garnet color with violet reflections and a subtle lightening at the rim. The bouquet is nuanced with herbal spices, smoky minerality, fine dry spice notes, and black berry fruit accented by thyme and sage. Hints of saddle leather and undergrowth add complexity. On the palate, it is powerful and complex, with flavors of blueberry jam and black cherries supported by ripe, rounded tannins. Notes of candied violets and black truffles emerge, leading to a firm, long finish with a touch of animalistic spice. This wine has definite aging potential.

Opus One began its life in 1979 when Château Mouton Rothschild winemaker Lucien Sionneau and Robert Mondavi's son, Timothy made the partnership's first vintage. Their goal was to create a wine of unparalleled quality that reflected the traditions of both houses. The wine is French in style, but Californian in substance, Opus One is produced with the utmost attention to detail. The 2006 Opus One is a traditional Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The wine shows saturated black fruit concentration with flecks of purple in the glass. The nose is one of dark chocolate, blackberry, smallgoods and rose petal. In the mouth, flavours of cassis and coffee with robust plum and cherry are only a small taste of how great this wine will become with careful cellaring.</p>
