A classic McLaren Vale Cabernet offering up aromas of dark, juicy blackcurrant, cassia bark, toasted anise, sage flower, dusty cedar and worn leather. It is an elegant Cabernet getting more exciting in the glass as it gets some air. A medium to full-bodied wine full of black olive and jubey fruit, firm, fine and textural tannins with spice and comfort redolent of Christmas pudding with warm brandy sauce.

A near perfect vintage in the McLaren Vale in 2021. A long, slow, cool vintage lead to great flavour development at low baumes whilst retaining great acidity. Fruit was selectively machine harvested in the cool of night, then destemmed and fermented on skins between 8-13 days. Once fermentation was complete the wine was gently pressed, following Malolactic fermentation the wine was filled to predominately French oak where it was matured for just over 18 months. (Approximately 20% new French Oak) Vegan friendly.

Primo Estate Merlesco Merlot

Merlesco combines fruit from our two McLaren Vale vineyards. Our McMurtrie Road vineyard on the valley floor enjoys sunny days and cooling evening breezes from the nearby ocean. Our Angel Gully Vineyard in the McLaren Vale sub-region of Clarendon is the highest vineyard in McLaren Vale and has a long, slow growing season with cool nights and warm days on shale stone soil.
