Since 1898 Kümmel is produced in the Oldesloer corn distillery. It was launched in a different configuration under the name Oldesloer Kümmel in 1983. Since then we have an ever-growing user group. Today Oldesloer Kümmel is one of the most popular Kümmel specialities in northern Germany. The clear Holsteiner speciality owes its typical flavour to valuable distillates made from the finest caraway seeds the oldest spice in Europe

It is unusual because although it is warm fermented with ale yeast, it is then conditioned at cold temperatures like a lager.Which gives it a crisp light flavour style.In 1986, the brewers of Köln agreed upon the Kölsch Konvention, which set out the brewing process that had to be used and restricted the use of kölsch to breweries that were within 50 km/30 mi of Köln. In 1997, Kölsch became a product with a protected geographical indication (PGI), expanding this protection to the entire EU.[3] Currently thirteen breweries in and around Cologne meet this convention.

Affentals unique name derives from a pilgrimage chapel, which stood near the grapevines. In support of the pilgrims Ave Maria the valley was known as Ave Tal (Ave Valley) in the local vernacular, from which todays Affental (Valley of the monkeys) evolved. The origin of the Affental Wine Cooperative dates back to the year 1908. At the time, 24 winegrowers founded the Natural Winegrowing Association of Affental. From this, todays Affental Viticultural Cooperative was created over the years with approximately 240 hectares of vineyards. Leffe Blonde is a Belgian Abbey Ale, golden in colour. It has a delicate aroma of smoked bacon which combines beautifully with the more obvious aromas of caramel and toffee which are derived from the special ''Aromatic'' malts used. These malts go through a special kilning process which dries and cures the malt at high temperatures resulting in high soluble sugar levels giving Leffe its distinctive colour, aroma and flavour.
