A collaboration between French winemaker Gille Lapalus and Australian bartender Shaun Byrne, Maidenii combines the best of both nations. The two men have worked carefully to capture the natural flavours - which include wormwood and wine sourced from Victoria.

Peter Graham worked at Beechworth icon, Giaconda for 13 years. Now out on his own, this new venture not only shows his skillful winemaking but captures the essence of the region and the reason its so renowned. Balanced, peppery, has good power and lots of smoky, meaty tannin, showing blueberries, blackberried and black cherries.

Candied fruit, straw and bready cracked-yeast characters are full and appetising to sniff. In the mouth, it's full and rich and loaded with toasty lees-age and pilot flavours, finishing nicely dry, with balanced soft acidity and plenty of verve with a sustained and satisfying finish.
