Product Description: A sunny-side parcel with real finesse. Drawn from a mere 0.5-hectare plot planted in 1998, Moreau’s Vaudésir 2023 is a fine-boned, mineral-driven expression of Grand Cru Chablis. This parcel sits near the top of the slope with south-east exposure—capturing morning sun while preserving freshness. The fruit is handled with restraint: fermentation in stainless steel, followed by élevage in seasoned oak to bring textural depth without overt influence. The result is poised and detailed. Citrus, white peach and saline florals meet a fine, crystalline texture and quiet persistence. Compared to Moreau’s more muscular bottlings, Vaudésir carries itself with elegance and lift—a Grand Cru that speaks in clear, articulate tones rather than volume. Product Description: A steep-slope Grand Cru with quiet depth and evolving precision. The 2023 Chablis Grand Cru ‘Blanchot’ from Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils is sourced from a minuscule 0.10-hectare parcel perched near the top of the Blanchot slope. With its cooler, east-facing exposure and white limestone soils, this site brings a poised, elegant profile to the domaine’s lineup of Grands Crus. In 2023, the wine shows a floral and exotic-tinged nose—passionfruit, white orchard fruits, and a touch of quinine—lifted by finely judged oak. It’s richer and more voluminous than expected from such a cool site, yet still grounded by minerality. While already expressive, it promises greater depth with time in bottle. Drink from 2030+. Chardonnay. Aged partially in oak. Serve with butter-poached lobster, turbot with fennel, or white asparagus. Made solely from the original 1969 plantings, the Yarra Yering Chardonnay is fermented traditionally in open top fermenters and crafted to age in bottle for extended periods. The wine goes through 100% malolactic fermentation which adds complexity and roundness without foregoing natural acidity and structure. Aged in 40% new French oak, this classic white wine combines intense opulence with finesse & textural flintiness.
Domaine Jean Noel Gagnard Clos De La Maltroye Premier Cru
This is an outstanding example of a white Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru. Formerly planted with Pinot Noir, this plot was grubbed up in January 1988, after producing good yields for 45 years, and replanted with Chardonnay in 1990. This change illustrates Chassagne-Montrachet's shift towards white wines dating from the 1980s in the light of the strong worldwide demand for Chardonnay-based wines. Not all the plots in Chassagne Montrachet are suited to this grape variety, however, and every change must be made in conformity with the appellation laws (to ensure quality) and in full respect of the terroir and its uniqueness. Thus, Chardonnay was only planted in this vineyard after careful consideration, producing its first vintage of white wine in 1992.
