This collection of wines pays tribute to one man's multifaceted capabilities, reflected by the ultimate expression of Coonawarra's diversity through single vineyard wines and interesting winemaking techniques. John Riddoch MHA, who entered South Australias parliament (1865) as the South-Easts representative, founded the Coonawarra region (1890) with the aspiration of making the finest wine in the country. This gold medal winning Cabernet Merlot offers cassis redcurrant spice aromas, fine chalky tannins and generous flavours define this expressive 2019 Cabernet Merlot. Aged in new-and-seasoned French and American oak for around 12 months, the wine is supple with gentle vigour. Drink now or may be cellared.

Since 1987, the Hill-Smith family has counted itself amongst those fortunate enough to produce an estate grown Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. While almost all Australian Merlot in the bottle is made from one clone, this wine is made from a parcel of clones that are new to Australia. MERITE Merlot is a multi-clone blend that is built to showcase the qualities of these newer clones such as fine tannins and vibrancy. Each vintage Wynns select a premium parcel from a single vineyard to bottle separately. This year the selection is from the Glengyle vineyard, creating a true wine of stature.

The Author pays homage to pioneering vigneron John Riddoch (1827-1901). A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is classic Coonawarra, with lush red berry fruit, with hints of plum, bramble and mint. Aged in a combination of new and old French Oak, seamlessly integrated with the fruit. Refined and silky tannins lead to a long and persistent length of flavour. This has all the hallmarks of a classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and will drink well now but will reward cellaring for 10-15 years.

Rated 96 points by James Halliday, Brands Laira 171 Cabernet Sauvignon is cassis driven and complex. It is full-bodied with well integrated tannins on the palate. This is a remarkably young Cabernet, which will age gracefully with suitable cellaring condition.
