Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black shaded hue. Pronounced dark plum aromas are followed by some liquorice and ripe blueberry scents with hints of vanillin cedar, fresh herb and peppered earth notes also present. Medium bodied the palate features juicy dark plum and red liquorice fruits over spicy vanillin cedar, infusions of fresh herbs and light pepper. Lights Valley wines commemorate Colonel William Light and his discovery and naming of Barossa Valley in 1837. Barossa Valley was named in memory of the British victory over the French in the Battle of Barrosa in 1811. However, due to clerical error the valley was misspelt Barossa. Tasting Notes: The Surveyor General Shiraz offers generous flavours of black fruit, chocolate and hazelnut. Fine tannins provide impressive depth of palate.

Best enjoyed after 90 minutes of decanting, it opens with layered aromas of toasted oak, vanilla, and spice, followed by a burst of concentrated black fruit — blackberry, blackcurrant, and plum. Velvety tannins, a full-bodied structure, and a long, polished finish make this a wine of both power and finesse.
