The initials RWT stand for Red Winemaking Trial, the name given to the project internally when developmental work began in 1995. RWT is made from fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities and plush texture. The result is a wine that helps to redefine Barossa shiraz at the highest quality level. Built for the long haul, with the precision, concentration and balance to age for many years. Onyx, ruby rimmed colour. Floral and berry notes on the nose, with a palate of dark cherry and blackcurrant fruits affording viscosity and concentration. Peak drinking: 2025 - 2050.

McWilliam's Mount Pleasant Maurice O'Shea Shiraz continues lead the pack of great Hunter Valley Shiraz. A lovely return to old form, this Maurice has a striking purple hue to it in the glass. To the nose aromas of liquorice and spice with hints of cedar will beguile. Layers of complex flavours dance across the palate including savoury, spicy dark fruits like dark plums and cherries. The 2018 Don Shiraz was our first release as new owners of the vineyard.Fruit was handpicked to enhance best quality and this particular season was outstanding.After natural fermentation of 2 weeks the wine was pressed off skins and then rack to (25% new) French and American barriques for the next 15 months.The wine displays a lovely deep purple crimson colour, ripe blueberries and spices, a touch of black pepper and is rounded out by generous palate flavours.Cellaring and decanting will further enhance this wine.A special wine that is drinking superbly now or save for that special occasion.

The Langi Shiraz block at Mount Langi Ghiran is planted with Swiss clone material originally sourced from nearby Bests Concongella Vineyard. Postmodern vinification includes open fermentation with some whole bunch and regular hand plunging, followed by partial barrel fermentation. Maturation takes place for around 14 months in new (45%) and seasoned French oak. The expressive Langi Shiraz is typified by ethereal blackberry, brambly dark cherry and pepper aromas, supple textures and underlying savoury oak.

Jasper Hill and Ron Laughton are true pioneer's and icons in the central Victorian wine region of Heathcote. Georgia's Paddock is the larger of 'Jasper's' vineyards, with 12 hectares planted to Shiraz to produce a wine rich in character and complexity. Always known for it's extreme ageability, Georgia's Paddock Shiraz will comfortably lie down for over a decade to deliver a Heathcote Shiraz simply bursting with concentration.

This wine is generous and rounded at first with juicy, deep berry compote fruits then yielding to a tightly woven frame of firm yet generous tannins. There are alluring, coconutty oak and fine dark chocolate characters, with a deep, soft centre of ripe berry fruits. Elegant acids and light, long tannins carry the palate to deliver a lingering finish.

Best's Great Western Thomson Family Shiraz is an amazing wine and is without doubt one of the most important wines made in this country, with fruit coming from the original Thomson Family Vineyard planted in1867. These vines are over 140 years old! Hand picked and hand crafted, produced using century old techniques, this is a wine of true beauty, complexity and character. Only 2800 bottles produced.
