The journey commenced in 1980 when Simon, fresh out of Year 12 at school in Adelaide accepted a vintage role with family-owned Yalumba. What started as a 3 month casual position progressed to career and toady he owns two vineyards in the Barossa. The William Patrick is the Auld Family's flagship Shiraz, paying homage to Australian wine pioneer William Patrick Auld.This rich Barossa shiraz reflects the regions famed soils, with grapes taken from vineyards on the Valley floor. The Old Salem Church was built with humble claystone in 1856. The church was destroyed in the flood of 1946, Old Salem lives on in the memorial stone laid in our neighbouring vineyard and in the grapes harvested from it. These are blended with carefully selected premium grapes from other longstanding Barossa family growers to create this distinctive Barossa Shiraz. This rich Shiraz has an intense nose of satsuma plum, blackberry and hints of spice. The palate holds concentrated flavours of plum, dark berries, dark chocolate and aniseed, while new and seasoned French oak provides balance and support to the intensity of the fruit
