UMAMU SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON
Umamu create exquisite handcrafted wines. Each bottle is deliberately and meticulously created: from the delicate balance tasted within each glass, to the small touches of family handwriting and messages on our labels. Our philosophy has always been to give our wines time to age in the bottle before release, a rarity in today’s market. Enjoying wines when they are ready to drink, rather than straight after bottling, is the reason Umamu wines have developed such a pleasant and sophisticated texture. 2008 is just glorious on its own or with food. It is all grown up and ready to go. This vintage is going down well with Umamu SBS fans, why not have a go?
Pierro Chenin Blanc
Pierro Chenin Blanc 2022 "Nunc Tempus Est" Product Description The 2022 Pierro Chenin Blanc is a testament to the vision of Dr Michael Peterkin, who first planted this small plot of Chenin Blanc vines in 1980. Over the years, these old vines have developed into a highly prized source of fruit, yielding small quantities of exceptional grapes. The name 'Nunc Tempus Est', meaning 'Now is the time', reflects the moment when this remarkable wine has come to fruition. The grapes for this wine were handpicked in the cool of the morning, gently pressed, and fermented under careful conditions to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit. The wine was then matured in a combination of stainless steel and mature French oak barrels, ensuring a perfect balance of texture and complexity. Fresh and vibrant, this wine showcases a unique style of Chenin Blanc that is both bone-dry and deeply flavourful, with aromas and flavours of honey, straw, and apples. The wine is powerful yet controlled, making it an excellent choice for cellaring, where it will continue to evolve beautifully over time. Reviews and Accolades "A perfect match for fresh seafood or grilled scallops in lemon butter. A complex, vibrant, and age-worthy expression of Chenin Blanc." - Young Gun of Wine Such a distinctive chenin, as in very much a Pierro wine. Highly perfumed with lavender, green olives in brine, mastic verging on the smell of just-cut raw pine wood. There’s a lot going here: textural with barely ripe Packham pears, raw quince flavour and phenolics with a slip of creaminess. Super dry on the finish, super delicious to drink. - Special Value, Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion, 94 Points. Green apple, apricot, green pear, lemon myrtle and honey, a coverlet of spicy oak. It's juicy, lots of flavour here, but tight too, and the texture is excellent offering some chalky grip and glossy feel, and it sports a cinch of dried herb and quinine bitterness on a long finish. It's powerful Chenin, yet it's balanced and controlled. Gee, this is terrific wine. - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 94 Points.
Hay Shed Hill Chardonnay
One of the best value Margaret River Chardonnays out there. Michael Kerrigan is doing an amazing job producing Chardonnays of elegance. Hay Shed Hill has delicate grapefruit and stone fruit flavours on the palate. And these flavours are matched with fine, minerally acidity with suble oak towards the finish.
Rosabrook Single Vineyard Estate Chardonnay
Pale straw green in colour. Complex bouquet, nutty and lifted. The palate is fine and deep with a lengthy finish.
Xanadu Chardonnay
Pears, stone fruit and citrus gives way to a creamy, nutty middle and fresh acidity to close.
Howard Park Leston Cabernet Sauvignon
Howard Park Leston Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine of good structure and power. Bright red crimson in colour. Red currant fruits, a hint of violets and oak on the nose. This full bodied wine had great elegance on the palate and a lengthy finish. No doubt one of the best example of the region.
Evans & Tate Single Vineyard Chardonnay
Cape Mentelle White Label Chardonnay
In Margaret River, considered one of Australia's premium chardonnay growing regions, Cape Mentelle creates wines of plush texture, depth and power, yet balanced with a fine frame of acidity. This Chardonnay is predominantly from our Chapman Brook Vineyard, established in 1994 in the cool southern half of Margaret River. The cooler climate captures the freshness and vibrancy of the variety. Yellow hay with a bright gold hue. A tropical nose of yellow peaches, melon and mandarin. Generous fruit intensity on the flowing palate, rich with rock melon, pistachio, lemon curd and orange blossom, lifting with a zesty, crisp acidity.
Atticus Finch Chardonnay
Pale yellow youthful green tinges, which I equate with quality young chardonnay. Aromatics are instantly very serious. Intense fruit nectarines and white peaches melding with lemon citrus beautiful French oak hovering just above the wine at the moment intense more than a cursory nod to Burgundy. The tiniest whiff of sulphides perfect for a wine of this age. When sipped, the wine shows its incredible intensity, no doubt derived from the very low yield.
Forester Estate Premium Chardonnay
Forester Estate focuses on showcasing the distinct regional characters of Margaret River fruit. Made by globally trained winemaker Todd Payne, this is a style of Chardonnay that has re-awakened the variety's popularity with consumers. Full flavoured, rich and ripe with a delicious spectrum of peach, cashew, grilled nut and mealy notes all balanced with some toasty oak and zesty length.
