The dark fruit aromas are underpinned by developing earthy characters, with spice and a hint of minerality. The palate shows plenty of power and concentration as the fruit unfolds, with big soft tannins, so typical from this site, and the iron-like sanguine finish. Ironheart represents the most eloquent expression of Shiraz from our Estate, grown on the most elite Shiraz block which we refer to simply as Block 15. The name Ironheart speaks to the reddish ironstone soils of this unique site. As with all of our wines, we use open-top fermenters, natural yeast fermentation and employ a careful regime of plunging, drain and returns to get the right balance of extraction. We fill 25% of the fermenter with whole clusters which adds some texture and complexity. The Yangarra philosophy centers around producing wines solely from our single-vineyard estate, where our bush-vine Grenache is the keystone variety. Swinney Farvie Frankland River Grenache The fruit from the bush vine Grenache and Mourvèdre is hand-harvested. The berries15% whole bunch Grenache and 5% Mourvèdreare sorted and gravity-fed to a French oak vat. The fruit is co-fermented wild giving the resulting wine a firm but fine framework around which it builds textural profile. After a week and a half on skins, the wine is basket pressed directly into ?ne grained large format seasoned French oak to age for almost a year.
