The Langmeil Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon is all about varietal definition. Blackcurrant, blueberries as well as herbaceousness and briary spice, plus a couple of years in good French oak to help drinkability as a youngster.

A blend of 60% Grenache, 23% Shiraz and 17% Nero, producing a fresh, vibrant and silken red wine. Only old oak is used, allowing the fruit to shine.Medium garnet. Hi-octane iodine, prune, leather, earth and bacon bone. Rich, spicy harmony throughout with a brooding mix of juicy raspberry and plum, fine tannins and spicy acidity. Shows lovely textural elements on the long, well balanced finish.

ColourA very attractive crimson red.AromaThis wine exhibits the distinct Grenache aromas; concentrated rose petals, ripe red berries and hints of confectionery. The nose is complex with signs of barrel maturation without any obvious oak.PalateThere are ripe strawberry and raspberry flavours with the warmth of the dry grown Grenache showing long and fine tannins with a lingering finish. There is a savoury dry character that is not aggressive in any way with hints of spice. The wine lingers and has cleansing acidity. This wine reflects the terroir of the area and the characteristics of the Grenache variety.

This is the third release of this wine drawing fruit from our Blewitt Springs vineyard sitting on sandy soil offering excellent drainage and resistance to disease and this year using Grenache from our friends at Dog Ridge. The wise old ladies from Blewitt Springs (shiraz) have teamed up with spicy Grenache from McLaren Flat producing fruit of uncommon intensity and flavour. Very dark colour, complex nose of blackberry/mulberry and plums with a touch of oak spice, palate is rich and full flavoured with blackberry/dark plum fruit softly textured and layered structure with integrated vanillin oak and fine tannins on the finish. An iron fist in a velvet glove style which is well suited to quality grilled beef such as rib eye.
