The Villanueva family are 3rd generation of rum producers who hone their skills in the town of Cordoba, on Mexico's coastal province of Veracruz. Veracruz has been famous for its high quality sugar cane plantations since the sixteenth century when the grass was first introduced to the America's by the Spanish. Los Valientes 20 year old is a blend of 70% pot-distilled rum from sugar cane juice (rhum agricole) and 30% colum-distilled molasses rum, charcoal filtered before being aged 20 years in white oak casks. Each bottle is hand numbered and hand signed. Nose: Molasses and treacle, rancio, cocoa and toasted oak. Palate: Earthy nuttiness with marzipan, dark chocolate with exotic spices to finish.

Los Valientes 10 year old is a blend of 70% pot-distilled rum from sugar cane juice (rhum agricole) and 30% colum-distilled molasses rum, charcoal filtered before being aged in used white oak ex-whiskey barrels. Nose: hints of plum, oak and sugar cane. Palate: Balanced fire and molasses, dried tropical fruits and hint of dark chocolate. Finish: It is not a heavy rum, it is light in character due to the size of the barrels used for aging, which are larger than the usual.

On the palate are rich, ripe, juicy sugar cane notes, grassiness, and floral notes. It is herbaceous with a lovely soft spirit texture. With subtle hints of rose, candied lollies and lavender oils, Sunshine & Sons Original Cane is very aromatic and lifted on the palate with balanced sweetness added to give extra richness and a coastal uniqueness.

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is a blend of 20 per cent light column distilled rums with 80 per cent pot still rums aged up to 12 years, a proportion of which are rums from exceptional barrels which are used in Master Blender Tito Cordero's secret preparation. Although he won't reveal the ages of the rums used he has disclosed that he mixes these exceptional rums with a little cane sugar prior to blending with the main body of rums to amplify their flavour so they impart a slight touch of sweetness and a distinctive flavour to the finished rum.
