Krondorf Stone Altar Old Vine Barossa Valley Grenache
At the foot of the iconic Kaiserstuhl mountain, the early Silesian settlers of the Barossa constructed a stone altar a sanctuary for prayer in their new homeland. The Krondorf Stone Altar Shiraz is a tribute to the settlers resourcefulness and resilience, which helped these old resilient vines. This 2020 vintage sources its grapes from a very small plot of elegantly aged and interesting vines in the Barossa sub-region of Ebernezer. Crafted by Head Winemaker Nick Badrice, the Krondorf Stone Altar Grenache is all about precision and focus; with concentrated aromas of black cherries with intense earthy and aniseed character leading to a palate of bramble and spice with freshly cut fig, lovely freshness and structure from subtle notes from new and seasoned premium oak barrels. Elegantly poised, with wonderful freshness. Held back for flavour development before release.

Woods Crampton Michael John Centenarian Vines Single Vineyard Shiraz
Woods Crampton Michael John Centenarian Vines Single Vineyard Shiraz, Barossa Valley Sourced from a vineyard planted in 1894 in the Marananga sub-region, dry grown and planted on its own rootstocks. Hand-picked at less than one and a half tonnes per acre. 'My father created a thriving business from scratch, over coming many challenges to achieve so much, all whilst never changing who he was or forgetng where he came from. There is much similar in this one hundred and twenty-year-old vineyard, having slowly grown to greatness whilst still clearly expressing its roots. I like to think there is along and bright future a head for both of them. This ones for you dad'- Aaron Woods Made using Burgundian techniques and a hands-off philosophy. The fruit is hand-picked, given an overnight chill before a cold-soak for seven days at seven degrees. The fruit is primarily de-stemmed and allowed to reach ambient temperature before transferred to one-tonne fermenters with 30% whole bunches laid across the bottom. A very slow, cool ferment with the cap held down and hand plunging twice daily. The fruit is racked to high-quality low toast French Oak barriques (300L), fifty per cent new, and topped every six weeks but not racked or stirred for twenty months. The wine is not fined, given a coarse filtration and a dash of sulphur before bottling.
