Hermanos Barbarossa

Spain’s Alicante region was once plagued by fierce pirates – including the legendary ‘Red Beard’, or Barbarossa. We can’t say for sure if they left any hidden booty, but we did uncover a treasure trove of gnarled old vines yielding tiny quantities of intensely flavoured grapes. Our buyer, Becca, was visiting winemaker Pamela Geddes when she spotted a single plot of Garnacha Tintorera. This grape is usually blended into other Spanish reds to add richness – but Becca persuaded Pamela to bottle it as the star. The result? Three Golds, a Double Gold and 90pts, and a deep, rich red, with just a dash of Shiraz for gentle spice. Brimming with blackcurrant and spicy bramble fruit, Barbarossa is a must-try for Black Red fans.

Cien Y Pico Knight's Errant Garnacha Tintorera Reserva

Yellow Tail Shiraz

The Yellow Tail Shiraz has aromas of ripe berries and sweet vanilla. Spicy, sweet fruit flavours on the palate are matched with subdued earthy tones and fine tannins.

Yellow Tail Merlot

Yellow Tail Merlot is soft and supple, with sweet, plum and cherry flavours and a hint of liquorice or anise. Merlot is an excellent alternative to the heavier and more tannic red varieties.

Fleur Vivaltus

Turkey Flat Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Excellent

Sourced from some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world this full-bodied classic displays intense brooding fruit balanced by the finest French oak. Enjoy with rich meat dishes or cellar for many years. A true Barossa Valley icon.

Massolino Barolo

First produced in 1911. The fruit for Massolino's classic Nebbiolo cuvée is selected from seven sites, representing roughly seven hectares of prime-sited Serralunga vineyards. The oldest vines that feed this bottling are 55 years old (the youngest are 10), and it spends 24 months in large Slovenian oak (only).

Head Red Shiraz

Head Wines was started in 2006 by Alex Head. It focuses on single site Rhône varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia. Head Red is a barrel cull from Barossa vineyards including 'The Blonde', 'The Brunette' and The Contrarian single vineyard Shiraz wines. It allows a pre-view of the vintage quality to come and keeps the quality of the Single vineyard wines as high as possible. The wine receives 12 months barrel age in predominantly older French hogsheads allowing the vintage and terroir to show clearly. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
