Angove Bin 4242 Limited Release McLaren Vale Shiraz
Angove make wine from all over South Australia, but McLaren Vale is one of their favourite stomping grounds. They have access to some of the finest vineyards in the vale and the best parcels of special fruit. Their hand-crafted wines show off the region’s expressive style to perfection.Here, dark chocolate, plum, and morello cherry flavours meld with delicious spice and creamy oak ... this is intensely dark and deliciously smooth. Great with a char-grilled steak.
Kangarilla Road Nero d'Avola
The spellbindingly delicious harmony of bright red berry fruits raspberries and cherries delight the senses. Pretty and more subdued notes of Aperol, geraniums and lemon thyme peek through a glaze of raspberry conserve. The transcendental raspberry flavours dance across the palate and coat it with a light red loveliness and gentle spice. The wine finishes with charmingly delicious Negroni-esque flavours.
Collaborations Shiraz by d'Arenberg
Good winter rains set the vines up well for the ensuing dry, warm growing season. The ripening period was characterised again by warm, dry condition without excessive heat which gifted us rich, opulent reds with well-balanced structure. The moderate weather allowed us to harvest fruit at optimal ripeness. The Shiraz in particular demonstrates rafts of blackberry, fennel and earthy characters, typical hallmarks of a classic d’Arenberg red. Produced in close partnership with some of Australia's finest vineyards, Collaborations is our new capsule range of five wines. After over a year of tasting and scoring, we arrived at our core collection of wines: a Brown Brothers prosecco, a Mr Riggs shiraz, a Yering Station chardonnay, a Pizzini pinot grigio and a Xanadu cabernet sauvignon. Elena’s Wines One & Only Shiraz
Melded purple and quite deep. Righteously rustic. Dark and red berry fruits with a savoury and green herbal edge. Violet flowers, aniseed, bay leaf and star anise. A background of soft and drying oak that helps extend the savoury fruit aromatics. Rich and rounded with hints of the earth and of good hardwood joinery. Bright, pert, and fresh red fruits. Alluring from first sip. A chewy, meaty and savoury red wine then ensues, with a wonderful three-way balance amongst the cheerful yet still restrained fruit flavours, the soft and gentle yet present tannins, and the beautifully and quietly persistent acid. Rounded and mouth-filling, yet long and ultimately dry. This is a grown-up’s red wine, hence think of grown-up foodstuffs to drink it alongside. Wirra Wirra Sparrow's Lodge Shiraz
Sitting proudly next to the iconic Woodhenge gate at Wirra is a classic Aussie residence. Originally built after severe storms destroyed the winery buildings in 1940, the then owners, the Sparrows, built this residence with left over materials from the fallen winery. Over the years, Sparrow's Lodge has been home to vintage vagabonds and the occasional winemaker and it is the good times that have been had within its walls that is celebrated in this wonderful, rich, vibrant and full-bodied McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Chapel Hill The Parson Shiraz
Chapel Hill's Michael Fragos loves using The Parson Shiraz to showcase McLarenVale's diversity and varietal character. The Shallow soils over livestone in maritime influenced vineyards between McLaren Vale and Masline Beach and also around Bowering Hill, provide explosive blueberries and liquorice with finesse and a wonderfully framing tannin structure. Up in the foothills of the Mount Lofty ranges, a Kangarilla vineyard offers Indian spice complexities that many higher priced wines would simply love to have. The added length and savoury tannins of this component and the use of some French oak result in a beguiling final release that is extraordinary.
Shingleback Red Knot Classified Shiraz
Shingleback Red Knot Shiraz has beautiful layers of dark fruits and soft earthy chocolate aromas on the nose. The Subtle savoury oak and chewy fruit tannins gives a nice structure to the wine. This will be a rewarding wine with careful cellaring, ensuring longevity.
