George Wyndham was one of the founding fathers of the Australian wine industry after planting the first commercial vineyard in 1830. Wine like this Cabernet Merlot pay tribute to George with its rich blackcurrant and cassis flavours, complemented by plum flavours and soft tannins. Semi translucent bright red to dark red colour with a light luminous red hue. Pronounced freshly crushed cherry and strawberry aromas mix with some inky earth and spicy herb notes. Juicy cherry and strawberry fruits are interwoven with subtle inky earth and dried herb elements. Soft fleshy mouth feel with velvety tannins. Finishes fresh with a savoury red fruited aftertaste. The wine is light to medium bodied, supple and textured – red berry fruits follow on from the nose. The palate reflects the warm vintage conditions – with fine grained, structural tannins preceding a long cherry, earthy finish.

Light and lively without being shallow, lemon blossom and pear flavours follow from the nose. The wine is fresh, restrained and evenly textured. Just a feather dusting of oak, and a lingering citrus finish.

Red Hill is one of the more popular wineries in Victoria due to their fantastic quality wines are quite brilliantly priced. Their Cool Climate Chardonnay shows great concentration of white peach, nectarine and white flower blossom on the nose. And tropical fruits such as pineapple, honeydew and ripe peach, intergraded with structured acidity on the palate. This wine has a great clean finish. Ideal to drink now or for careful medium-term cellaring.
