The 2023 A Bichot Fleurie La Madone Beaujolais is a true gem from the picturesque region of Beaujolais, France. This unique Beaujolais comes from one of the highest vineyards in Beaujolais. Aux Gauthiers is located at the top of the slope and 520 metres above the Col du Truges and the commune of Villié-Morgon. The vines here were planted in the 1940s and 1970s and are picked one week later than Benoît Moreau’s cuvées in Chassagne-Montrachet. The winemaking encompasses 30% whole clusters, and no oak is involved in the maturation.

Chateau du Moulin-à-Vent dates back to 1732 and gave its name to the appellation when it was created in 1936. The estate has 37 hectares of vines across the appellation’s finest terroirs on mostly granitic soils rich in iron oxide, copper and manganese. This is a single-site Gamay from the 4.4ha Croix des Vérillats vineyard, which neighbours La Rochelle and was planted at 10,000 vines per hectare in the 1950s.
