If you love your big, bold and brash Barossa Shiraz, then look no further. Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz produce wine of utmost power and strength. Their Gnarly Dudes is a perfect example. Bold black and blue fruits dominate with a healthy smattering of oak to hold everything in place. Sumptuous!

A big brooding Barossa wine with endless layers of fruit and oak. The tannins are very well integrated and will continue to develop in years to come. A great example of a true Barossa Shiraz.

The wine is deep red in colour, with a vibrant streak of purple. Its primary aromas are reminiscent of cracked pepper and dark ripe plums with a subtle spicy smokiness and lovely floral notes. The palate features cherry, dark chocolate and vanilla flavours. The secondary bouquet is earthy and savoury, with a good flavour intensity but underplayed oak, while its tannin structure is smooth but firm. In the case of this Shiraz, cellaring is definitely a rewarding option. Leaner red meat, a carpaccio of venison, stew, and mildly spicy ethnic foods are best paired with this wine. Soft cheeses like Camembert or smoked cheddar are also recommended.

This Shiraz is filled with black and dark red fruits, whole black pepper and herbs. These dark red fruit characters of the bouquet reflect on the palate, which also provides salty and savoury notes of liquorice. All the characters seamlessly shift to a fine and long finish, which calls for another sip.

The palate is beautifully structured with intense flavours of red berry, more plum and chocolate all finishing rich and textured, with fine-grained tannins and extraordinary length. The Avenue to Gold 2018 displays vibrant crimson colour. Aromas of Fresh blackberry andAsian species which evolve to pipe tobacco, dried sage and rosemary. The wine enters the palate with power and presence carrying liquored blackberry and coal dust flavour at first impression. It turns savoury slowly delivering black peppercorns and umami notes which provide a lovely mouth watering finish. This wine has a very complex finish which touches on both fruit and savoury details. Avenue to Gold’s fine tannins and acidity will bring pleasure in its youth and allow long cellaring.

There are always captivating florals and spices in the perfume of Mount Edelstone, and in this more toned vintage, sage, pepper, bay leaf, and bark cavort atop the fruit notes. ... When you peek behind the curtain, the fruit is sleek and polished, and the tannins are superfine. The finish is as neat and ordered as any I have tasted, and given its youth and grandeur, this alone offers a fascinating insight into the extraordinary balance across the entire landscape of the palate.

The concept of blending Shiraz and Viognier was derived from the great French wine region of the Northern Rhône the Côte Rôtie area in particular. Using only the best Eden Valley fruit, this wine by Yalumba is rich in concentrated fruit flavour. Traditionally, the two different grape varieties for this wine have predominately been crushed and fermented together.
