Our Barolo comes from the best plots of seven cru. The diversity of soils, exposure and altitude characterises each of these small but very important terroir. Unifying these diversities, the Barolo offers harmony and complexity with an overall character of the zone. Paolo Scavino owns 29 hectares entirely in the Barolo area and works on 20 Barolo historical crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba, Verduno and Roddi. The Scavino family distinguishes itself from the beginning by their scrupulous care of the vineyards and passion for terroir. Purple colour, fresh and delicate aromatics of cherry, blueberry, spices and flowers. The structure has a lightness and brightness in it. Well defined by good tannins and harmonious acidity this wine has a pleasant freshness and intriguing character. Preda is nestled between Cannubi and Vignane at the end of the Bussia Valley. Myers’ parcel faces east at the top of the hill, where the thin Sant'Agata soils are laced with a high portion of active lime. It’s this combination of exposure and rocky soils that, in part, allows him to craft such an aromatic, mineral-edged expression of Barolo. The other half of the calculation lies in Myers’ innovative winemaking, for Nebbiolo at least. The winemaking notes read more like Burgundy than Barolo (which, in turn, tells you much of what you need to know about the wine). Myers worked with 55% whole bunches, and the wine spent 18 days on skins. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months on fine lees in a thick-staved Garbellotto botti, with no racking and late malolactic fermentation. The wine opens with loads of red fruits, gentle bunchy goodness, some sweetness and all kinds of flowers. A wine built on perfume! It changes quite a bit with air, building depth and dialling up the dark cherry and spice. In short, don’t be in a rush and give it plenty of air. It really made us think of top, old-vine Chambolle—as though Roumier made Barolo! Regardless of who made it, this is one of the most perfumed, silken and downright charming Barolos you’re likely to lay your hands on.

Our tribute to the Masters of tradition, Albe is the blend of highelevation Barolo vineyards. As these blocks lay on various slopes with different exposures, we have the chance to see three sunrises (Albe) every day. Albe is a blend of wonderful Barolo DOCG vineyards with exposures that range from south-south-east to south-west, at high elevation between 380 and 480m above sea level. Vinification was carried in customdesigned vertical tini, with gentle punch down and cap pump-overs, and lasted between 28 and 49 days on average, with partial submerged-cap maceration. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation was held in stainless steel during the following spring. Aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak casks of 40, 50 and 75 hL.

In 1904 a co-operative winery called Ai Vino Delle Langhe was founded and a young man who worked there was Alfred Prunotto. Prunotto took over the estate in 1922, giving it his own name and today it is run under the umbrella of the famous Marchesi Antinori family. Located in Alba the estate tends around 50 hectares of vineyards throughout the Langhe and Monferrato. This Nebbiolo is garnet red in colour with ample and complex aromas of violets and berry fruit, full and velvety in flavour and very balanced. Its structure and body make it an ideal match for meat and game dishes and for cheese.
