Deep Woods most vaunted red earned its place in the Langtons Classification in 2018 (7th Edition) after displaying consistent quality and demand for the required minimum ten vintages. It is one of those wines at the tip of the Margaret River spear - demonstrating the brilliance that continues to come from that corner of Cabernet Country. ...imbued with power and elegance, pure fruit definition, fine-grained tannins and integrated savoury oak. Classification VII (2018) Deep Woods Estates sustainable and minimal-intervention farming and new trellising systems to optimise exposure have brought the vineyard into the big time. The Vat 8 consists of a majority Hunter Valley Shiraz the lends beauty, flavour and ripeness and a small parcel of Hilltops Cabernet which supports the Shiraz with power and structure. Representing our finest selection of Shiraz from our estate vineyards expressing clearly varietal and vintage, this wine is the pinnacle for us of this noble grape in a cool elegant corner of Australia. Bearing the dark spice and forest floor characters which are hallmarks of Margaret River, wrapped in a fine textured umami envelope of goodness, this wine takes us on a wonderful journey, of which we are merely taking our first steps. Concentrated and vibrant on the palate with a rich diversity of black and red fruit intertwined with nutmeg, cinnamon and sweet spices. The mouthfeel is a lovely balance between powdery, chalky tannins and a playful acidity, finishing with great length and lingering notes of cedar and dried herbs.

Like the Command block, which is an amazing resource to the Elderton Estate, the Ashmead block has consistently produced small parcels of excellent quality fruit. The vineyard was almost destroyed in 1997 to make way for higher yielding vines, however the family made the decision to promote the vineyard to a higher destiny thus the Ashmead.

Massive fruit tannin to pucker your lips, dripped over deep luscious varietal fruits with some of the world's finest French Oak to complement.
