Dowie Doole The Banker McLaren Vale Shiraz
Take home a mighty Shiraz of concentration power and balance, from winemaker Chris Thomas, now part owner of Dowie Doole. It was founded in 1995 by Drew Dowie and Norm Doole, lon associated with grape growing in McLaren vale. Since 2015, it has been in the hands of Chief Winemaker Chris Thomas, who bought it from them with other investor friends. This is an archetypal McLaren vale Shiraz with dark fruit and chocolate, coffee, herbs and licorice.
Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon
Penfolds Bin 407 began life back in 1993 with the release of the 1990 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. Created as a result of the availability of high quality Cabernet fruit, Bin 407 is inspired by its older brother, Bin 707. Not only offering varietal definition, but also approachability, structure and depth of flavour. The Bin 407 highlights the Penfolds approach to multi-region, multi-vineyard blending to create a Cabernet that rewards the drinker in both early and later years.
Kay Brothers Amery Vineyards Block 6 McLaren Vale Shiraz
Block 6 was hand-picked from the 125 year old vines on the 21st and 30th of March 2017, producing a healthy and clean crop of 11.37 tonnes. The grapes were crushed, de-stemmed and plunged twice daily while spending 11 days on skins in our traditional open fermenters. The wine was then basket pressed and matured for 20 months in 40% new French and American oak puncheons. Bottled in February 2019.
Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Grenache
2015 Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Grenache, Purpled crimson. Magically entwined with elegant hints of cherry, raspberry, terracotta, cocoa, walnut, and Turkish delight. The flourishing perfume continues to rise with an ever-present core appearing as the seamless spine. Harmoniously, these characters gracefully nuance, reinforce and offer evolution. A harmonious composition of spice, fruit, glycerin and chalky velvet produce an aristocratic experience that is nearly limitless in its depth of expression. The palate is bright and taught with natural acid however it is incredibly layered and deeply concentrated with silky smooth extract. The impressive purity of the fruit, alone , ushers superlatives however it is the fine boned and seamlessly structured palate, coupled with an air of effortless power that remains the most haunting element to this exceptional old vine Grenache.
Voyager Estate Cabernet Merlot
Blackberries, cherry and dark chocolate combine to create a layered, complex nose. The wine reveals an intense dark berry fruit spectrum coupled with a rich and lush mouthfeel. High quality French oak has given the wine great definition and a long, soft tannin structure and finish.
Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon, Coal River Valley Tasmania
Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon, which also includes a small percentage of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot is a foil to the more opulent mainland styles. Violets, roses and blackcurrants pervade through the wine like an English country garden. The tannins are especially fine grained and there is a beautiful freshness and mineral quality on the palate. The parcels of fruit are batch vinified in stainless steel tanks before maturation in 100% new oak for between two and three years.
Wendouree Cabernet Malbec
Bright medium red with purple hue in colour; On the nose: pronounced Blackcurrant, crushed wet leaves and dark plums, bouquet of wild violet and a decent amount of almost wet tobacco oak. A full bodied wine that has great length on the palate with firm but refined tannins. Simply outstanding in its class.
Yering Station Cabernet Sauvignon
Compelling and convincing, with florals, currants and blackberries, not too sweet; it has a savoury edge, with the oak seamlessly integrated. Perfectly ripe tannins with poise and presence ensure that this is lovely now, but will be more so in years to come.
Pende Valde The Mary NO.1
Classic Shiraz flavors of cherry and red plum fill a generous body, complemented by more subtle notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and raspberry. These elements come together to form a complex core with an elegant, soft, and velvety tannin structure, leading to a deliciously lengthy finish.
