Smidge The Gruve Gruner Veltliner
In the glass the 2014 Gruner Veltliner, (or GruVe as we like to call it) is very pale straw with fine green hue. The nose is lifted with a flinty minerality and a loaf of citrus (more fresh limes than lemons) with a subtle herby peppery and floral notes. Again the citrus is prevalent on the palate followed by a fine peppery note. The mouth watering acidity combines with the fruit and peppery notes to deliver a long and fresh finish. Drink now or until 2025 with careful cellaring.

Hatch Clare Valley Riesling
Chris Hatcher of 'Hatch Wines' has been a winemaker for almost 50 years including more than 35 years at Wolf Blass, 27 as Chief Winemaker. After many years of contemplating releasing his own wines, Hatch retired from TWE in June 2023 and then in October/November released my own label HATCH, his monicker for most of his life. Watervale, a subregion of Clare Valley is one of the Australia’s classic regions for Riesling. At 390-400metres above sea level the high altitude and cooling breezes from Gulf St Vincent gives a long ripening period that is essential for making high quality Riesling. The HATCH Watervale Riesling is an elegantly fragrant and perfumed Riesling with hints of lime zest and orange blossom. The palate has powerful fruit intensity and finesse with fine acidity that is delicious now but will reward with medium to long-term cellaring.
Kirrihill Vineyard Selection Series Watervale Riesling
The fruit is from a Kirrihill owned vineyard in Watervale called “Slate Creek”, planted in the 1970’s. As you guessed, the vines are sitting on slate, which gives incredible results, the fruit has great concentration of flavour and minerality on the palate. The 2025 season was excellent for Riesling, we are super happy with how the wines are shaping up. The vines maintained very healthy canopies throughout the dry summer, and the vineyard team kept up with consistent and generous irrigation to meet the perfect ripening conditions. Picking at cool temperatures and quick transportation will avoid picking up colour, oxidation, maceration and therefore loss of quality, flavour and acidity.
O'Leary Walker Polish Hill River Museum Release Riesling
The O'Leary Walker Polish Hill River Riesling Museum Release 2013 is a classic Clare Valley Riesling. It boasts a beautiful pale straw colour and an inviting bouquet of vibrant citrus fruits and floral notes. On the palate, it has a refreshing acidity and an intense concentration of flavours including lemons, limes and minerality. The finish is long and crisp, with a hint of stone fruits. This is a dry, elegant and well-balanced Riesling that is sure to please any wine-lover.
Sevenhill Spire's Lament Viognier
Mid straw colour. The aroma is of apricot and honeydew melon fruit aromas with barrel derived characters of blanched almond and crème brûlée. The palate is clean and lightly textured, a core of honey and melon fruit, fresh acidity and fine linear oak tannins extending the palate.
