The Coonawarra region is a flat terrain, located on the Limestone coast in South Australia. Named after the visionary pioneer John Riddoch (1827-1901) who established the Coonawarra Fruit Colony in 1890. The cool maritime climate and exceptional vineyard sites produce wines of beautiful aromatic complexity, rich flavours and freshness. This classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French and American oak barrels, is concentrated and supple with blackcurrant, dark cherry, earthy chocolate and plentiful fine-grained textures.

This quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet has all the hallmarks of this classic style. A lifted nose of dried herb, bay leaf and bramble leads into a rich palate of cassis, cocoa and blackberry. The fruit weight is well supported by fine, silky tannins and natural, bright acidity. A wine to be enjoyed now, and will improve with short term cellaring.

Pale crimson with glimmers of garnet. Aromas of red and blue berries mingle with violet notes and gentle spice. The palate is fresh and balanced, with supple tannins, a touch of earthy minerality, and a clean, lingering finish that reflects its Coonawarra origins.

The aroma is complex and intense, showing lifted green capsicum, perfume, chocolate, savoury meats and menthol. It has a lovely, balanced palate with fine grippy tannin, fleshy fruit texture and lots of up front flavour. As this wine spends time in the bottle, more complex fruit and developed character will reveal itself from behind the robust structure.

Structure and power to boot, a ripe spectrum of red and dark fruits alight the senses and the fine-grained tannins engage to deliver a big, bullish like wine that has wonderful potential to age. Classic cigar box, tobacco and hints of tomato stalk nuance a dense bouquet.
