Bouchard owns two parcels at the top and bottom of the famed walled vineyard, although presently their Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from the top part, as the bottom has been pulled up. This part of this famous, 50 hectare walled vineyard tends to produce the best wine that have Grand Cru concentration and structure.

The teams bring precision and excellence at every stage: work tailored to the specificities of each parcel, careful harvesting, respect of grapes, gravity to avoid pumping, careful vinification of each parcel separately so as to best express the character of the different terroirs.

With the oldest records dating back to 1220, it took until 1872 for Bouchard to finally acquire all of the parcels of this 3.36ha Beaune monopole. Depending on the vintage not all the fruit is totally destemmed and the wine is matured in French oak for 12 months with 30-40% new wood. Always well priced and approachable in its youth it will also reward 5-10 years cellaring.

Bouchard Père et Fils 1er Cru Les Grèves is characterised by its finely perfumed nose, harmonious fruit weight, and soft, structural spice. The vineyard, planted over limestone and clay with gravel, benefits from a east-southeast aspect and spans 3.48 ha. From hand harvested fruit, the wine is pressed to French oak (up to 25% new) where it matures for 12 to 14 months.
