Thorn Clarke Sandpiper Barossa Valley Merlot
91pt Barossa Merlot from the impressive Thorn-Clarke. "Attractively ripe and fragrant, the bouquet shows dark plum, floral, thyme, and nutmeg aromas, leading to a silky-smooth palate that's juicy and beautifully rounded. Delightfully composed and expressed with a lengthy, supple finish. 91pts" (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit). Thorn Clarke is one of the largest family-owned estate-based businesses in the Barossa, set up by David and Cheryl Clarke (née Thorn), The Sandpiper range is named after the migratory bird which visits the Thorn-Clarke vineyards annually from the northern hemisphere - something of a reminder of the tenacity and commitment which is required for long term viticulture.
Glen Eldon Twisted Trunk Barossa Valley Shiraz
RedHeads Monte
Succulent Aussie Montepulciano – or Monte – from RedHeads and the sustainable winery in the heart of the Barossa where their wines are made. RedHeads has always been a bit of a rebel! The ‘movement’ started in 2002 in the McLaren Vale – in a cellar where young winemakers could come in their spare time and make just the sort of small-scale wine they dreamed of (not like they did in their day job). Since then, the winery has moved home a few times, and today make their wines in the Barossa, at one of Australia's leading eco-friendly cellars. There, surrounded by many of Australia's biggest wine names, they handcraft revolutionary wines from top batches of grapes, rescued from under the noses of the big players.

Yelland & Papps Stone Well Barossa Valley Syrah
This is cracking – Barossa at its most elegant. 95pt, Gold, Great Value “Damn fine drinking” Barossa Rhône-style Syrah “A distinctly Rhôney style; modest in alcohol and packed with ripe plum and cranberry fruits, pressed wildflowers, exotic spice and meaty nuance. Spacious and savoury on the palate with a light floral tilt, fine powdery tannin architecture and a stony, amaro-flecked exit. Damn fine drinking. 95pts, Great Value” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion). "Michael and Susan Papps (née Yelland) set up this venture after their marriage in '05. It is easy for them to regard the Barossa Valley as their home because Michael has lived and worked in the wine industry in the Barossa Valley for more than 20 years. He has a rare touch, producing consistently excellent wines". (Halliday).
