The nose displays apple, lemon sherbet, pear and citrus notes. The palate is light and crisp with green apple, spearmint and mandarin. It's vibrant and pure in the mouth with a gentle, creamy texture.

On the nose: Fresh red and dark cherry aromas with herb and violet perfume. On the palate: Medium weight yet quite intense with raspberry and redcurrant fruit freshness and lifted acidity. Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is produced from a single vineyard at Coriole, planted in 1919 by Geoffrey Kay. It was first retained as a separate wine in 1989, and is one of Langton's Classified Wines of Australia. This vineyard typically produces a wine of great intensity and can be cellared for many years. The wine is matured in French oak with typically about 40% new.

Matured for 14 months in French oak hogsheads. Dense black as night heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced ripe black cherry, dark plum and liquorice scents take form followed by some vanillin cedar, earth and spicy dried herb notes. Rich fleshy dark cherry and plum fruits overlay a liquorice, vanillin earth, spice and fresh Mediterranean herb back drop. Polished tannin structure with a ripe slightly rustic feel to the medium length finish. Drink over the next 3-4 years. Alc. 13.8%

Mark Lloyd of Coriole planted Sangiovese in his McLaren Vale vineyards in the mid 1980s and in 1999 he famously won the inaugural Australian Sangiovese Awards – a precursor to the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show, where this delicious 2016 Sangiovese won Gold! It has beautiful bright spiced cherry and plum fruit, with a savoury touch of herbs and spice. It's a terrific food wine - try it with your best Italian pasta dish.
