Tasting note: Made from 100% Arabica beans (reportedly, some other brands rely on artificial flavouring). Fabulous burnt umber appearance is thick and glass staining. Issues aromas of freshly roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and vanilla. The tequila base is more salient in the mouth, with a creamed-up texture that’s akin to coffee flavoured milk with a splash of tequila and dark chocolate for good measure. Don Julio Añejo spends more than the minimum requirement of 1 year on oak, and is normally aged between 18 months and two years before it reaches its optimum age and taste profile. As with the rest of the Don Julio range the nose is fruity and floral, but with notes of vanilla and fresh agave, whilst the palate is slightly richer and more full bodied, yet still sweet and rich with citrus characteristics.

Patrón Añejo is delicate blend of uniquely aged tequilas. All the tequilas are aged in small white oak barrels for a minimum 12 months. As in many premium red wines, the blends must be adjusted for each vintage. The same care and attention is paid when blending Patrón Añejo making it smooth, distinctive and extraordinary.
