Slightly more expressive than its Pot Still sibling, the aroma conjures frail scents of balsa wood, hay, poached pears in wine, green apples and light vanilla. It's also a more delicately textured whiskey suggesting flavours of sweet cereals and stewed orchard fruits, building succulence, ending crunchy, lipsmacking and gently spiced. Maturation in Tawny Port casks distinguishes this from Drumshanbo's standard bourbon/sherry release. Triple distilled and based on a unique mash bill including malted barley, unmalted barley and Irish Barra oats, the full-term fortified ageing contributes intense red fruit and caramelized sugar notes, giving it a creamy texture, alongside flavours of cherries, plums, toffee, baking spices (cinnamon/clove) and citrus, balanced by classic pot still spice for a smooth finish. 43% Alc./Vol.
