Arguably one of the greatest Australian Tawny Ports, Penfolds Great Grandfather is a refinement of the reserve material used for the Grandfather Tawny. With an average age of 15 years, fruit is picked from vines that are 166 years old. For serious port-lovers this is heaven.

Off-dry with meaty and malty characters, a broad palate thats deep and rich, with trademark Verdelho medium body and racy acidity.

Aroma of dried fruits, raisins, hazelnuts and walnuts. Complex, the medium dry palate shows bitter almond, dried fruits, spices, green pepper and oak. The tannins and acidity are balanced, long and drying.

Fermented & aged in oak for an average of 25 years this wine is a deep tawny colour. It has a layered aromas of raisins, grilled nuts & fruit cake. The palate is defined by rich & intricate complexity with flavours of caramelised toffee, dried fruit & vanillin oak, finishing with immense depth & length.
