Taking its name from its uniquely rocky terroir (beau caillou translates as beautiful stones), and Bertrand Ducru who purchased the estate in 1795, what we know today as Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou as a wine producing estate, has history stretches back to the 13th century. Owned today by The Borie family (who have long-standing roots of their own in Bordeaux), the Chateau is, according to many, producing the best wines in their history at this very moment. The 2016 vintage has already been hailed as yet another monumental success for the winery with Antonio Galloni praising it as simply magnificent.

Like the Command block, which is an amazing resource to the Elderton Estate, the Ashmead block has consistently produced small parcels of excellent quality fruit. The vineyard was almost destroyed in 1997 to make way for higher yielding vines, however the family made the decision to promote the vineyard to a higher destiny thus the Ashmead.

The second wine of Chateau Mouton Rothschild was first released in 1993. Le Petit Mouton takes its name from a small house next to the main Chateau, the official residence of Baron Philippe Rothschilds wife and family. The Chateaus modern age began in 1922 producing vintages through what were, at the time, cutting-edge techniques; though seen as revolutionary at the time, many of these methods are still in use today. This includes the groundbreaking concept of bottling all wine on the estate, allowing for an unprecedented level of control over the Bordeaux sold from Mouton-Rothschild.

Cherubino Wines Cherubino Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River Winemaker Larry Cherubino of Cherubino wines has built a reputation for making superlative quality expressions of Western Australias trophy varieties. The namesake Cherubino Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to his deft hand. Rich and redolentand one for the oak acolyteswe can see it rewarding for the next two decades or more in the cellar. Almaviva is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. In 2015, it earned James Sucklings illustrious Wine of The Year. It is an energetic and elegant Cabernet, with intense aromatics and a full body. Almaviva sees Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Concha y Toro in collaboration. Founded in 1997, the vineyard is located in Chiles Maipo Valley. The aim? To make French style grand cru classé quality wines in Chile.

SHAFER VINEYARDS Hillside Select Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

This is the second wine of Chateau Calon-Ségur, the third-growth Saint-Estèphe estate. A Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, it is a more approachable, earlier-drinking style and serves as a great introduction to the Grand Vin. Savoury and mid-weight, it is produced from hand- picked grapes off the estate’s vineyards. Recent vintages have been matured in 50% new French oak barriques for 18 months.

Cape Mentelle has a rich history of exceptional quality and consistency with Cabernet Sauvignon, from a pioneering producer in Margaret River in the early 1970s to a benchmark winery today. A full-bodied wine with intense blue and black berry preserves on entry, followed by tobacco, savoury and gamey layers, all framed by firm, ripe tannins creating a complex wine of length.
