The renowned quality of Coonawarra is a product of its thin rocky soils and underlying soft crumbly limestone which naturally produces balanced vine canopies and small crops of intensely flavoured fruit. Penfolds Bin 407 began life back in 1993 with the release of the 1990 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. Created as a result of the availability of high quality Cabernet fruit, Bin 407 is inspired by its older brother, Bin 707. Not only offering varietal definition, but also approachability, structure and depth of flavour. The Bin 407 highlights the Penfolds approach to multi-region, multi-vineyard blending to create a Cabernet that rewards the drinker in both early and later years.

Perfumed and varietal with classic Cabernet aromas of cassis, dark-berried fruit, and plum. Time in glass has afforded the wine further complexity with overtones of clove, anise, and tobacco leaf that create an intriguing array of aromas that carry well onto the palate. Wholesome and generous, this is a classic Eden Valley Cabernet with fine structural tannins driving a long and savoury finish.

Subtle threads of violets, cherry blossom and fresh juniper berries serve as highlights to an ample tapestry of black plums, cacao nib and ironstone. Sheer textures of crushed granite and black cherry skin are laced with porcelain tannin and quenching natural acidity.

This features currant and plum fruit, with tobacco, loam and singed savory notes, maintaining range and driving through the finish.
