Malbec

Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec

Mount Mary Yarra Valley Quintet

Essence of blackcurrant. Bay leaves, licorice, tobacco and musky oak. One of those wines that seems to cascade through the mouth. Tremendous purity, freshness, elegance. Great release. Not much need be said. Pure velvet. Pure length. Drink 2019-2032.

Callejon Del Crimen Blend de Terroirs Malbec

100% Malbec - Grapes from the different estates are used in varying proportions depending on the characteristics of each vintage. This Blend of Malbecs from the Uco Valley has 50% from our estate at Gualtallary, 20% from Paraje Altamira, 20% from Pampa El Cepillo and 10% from our estate at Vista Flores. Aging - 12 months in 160- and 225-litre French oak barrels, plus 12 months storage in the bottle. Tasting notes - A blend with great character. A deep violet wine, surprisingly bright over a black background. It leaves notable legs. On the nose there are notes of ripe black plum and hints of minerals and spices. In the mouth, the wine is elegant and expressive, with silky, velvety tannins. There are notes of chocolate and tobacco from its aging in French oak barrels. We recommend decanting it for 30 minutes before serving. Cellaring - 15 years plus

Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Cabernet Malbec

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

Vasse Felix, Margaret River's founding wine estate, was established by Dr Thomas Brendan Cullity in 1967. Among his first plantings were Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, from which he produced the estate's first red wine. The Tom Cullity descends from these original vines and represents the pinnacle of Vasse Felix. The inaugural release will be in May 2017, coinciding with Vasse Felix's 50th Anniversary.
