Bubb + Pooley WKR Vineyard Pinot Noir
Bubb+Pooley Wines is a venture born out of passion and expertise. Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley, both with over 20 years of experience in winemaking across the globe, have finally decided to release their own wines. After working with premium vineyards throughout Tasmania, they are now collaborating with exceptional vineyards and people across the state to produce wines that connect with their philosophy of making wine from the ground up. Their use of concrete vessels is not an experiment but a traditional style of vessel that has been used for centuries in the Old World. Each shape has been chosen specifically to enhance the texture of the varietal within them and these beautiful, handcrafted vessels will last lifetimes. At Bubb+Pooley Wines, sustainability threads through and underpins their approach to everything they do. All of their decisions are focused on how they can do things better in order to minimize their impact on the environment. Their wines are raw, expressive and speak of place. The Coal River Valley wine region is located in Clarence, Tasmania, just northeast of Hobart. It was named after the first village that discovered coal in the area. The majority of grapes are grown on northern slopes and the region produces high-quality Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon blanc. The cool climate alluvial and sandy soils with a high concentration of clay sandstone provide a unique terroir for the wines. Bubb + Pooley WKR Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 is a high-quality wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from three vineyards in the Coal River Valley region of Tasmania, Australia. The Brinktop Vineyard in Sorell, the Pressing Matters vineyard in Richmond, and the Bubb + Pooley vineyard on White Kangaroo Road all contribute to the unique flavour profile of this wine. The grapes were carefully handpicked and wild-yeast fermented with 10% whole bunches over a period of 25 days. The wine was then matured for 9 months in a combination of concrete (30%) and French oak puncheons (70%), with 20% new oak. This maturation process has given the wine a complex and well-rounded flavour. One of the unique features of this wine is that it is bottled unfired, making it vegan friendly. This is because no animal products were used in the process of clarifying the wine. The Bubb + Pooley WKR Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 is made from 22-year-old vines at the vineyard on White Kangaroo Road. This gives the wine a depth of character that can only come from mature vines. In the glass, the Bubb + Pooley WKR Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 displays a vibrant ruby red hue, hinting at the wine's youthful freshness and vitality. As you bring the glass to your nose, a captivating bouquet of aromas unfolds. The first impression is one of ripe red cherries, intermingled with delicate notes of wild strawberries. These fruit-driven scents are complemented by subtle hints of baking spices, including clove and cinnamon, adding depth and complexity to the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine showcases a beautiful balance between fruitiness and elegance. Juicy red berries take centre stage, with ripe raspberries and cranberries leading the way. The tannins are velvety smooth, providing a luxurious mouthfeel that caresses the palate. Mid-palate, the wine reveals layers of complexity, with flavors of black tea and subtle earthiness emerging. These secondary notes lend a sense of depth and sophistication to the overall tasting experience. As the wine lingers on the palate, a touch of toasted oak and a whisper of vanilla come forward, contributing to a satisfying, lingering finish.

Domaine Fabien Coche Meursault Rouge
Maker: Established in 1940 and formerly known as Coche-Bizouard, the Domaine Fabien Coche is dedicated to cultivating the exceptional qualities found in the renowned wines of Burgundy. With a commitment to traditional methods, Domaine Fabien Coche carefully tends to every aspect of the winemaking process, from vineyard work to bottling, ensuring the production of wines that are truly exceptional. Fabien Coche, is a fourth-generation vigneron, who took over the management of his family's prestigious domaine in 2005, following in the footsteps of his well-known relatives. Fabien Coche’s father is a first cousin of Jean-Francois Coche-Dury and it is not so long ago that the two domaines shared almost identical labels. Fabien started working with his father in 1998 and since 2005 has taken over the running and now has his own distinctive labels. The Coche-Dury family holds a prominent position among Burgundy's esteemed families. Fabien Coche's holdings were formerly part of the same estate until 1940, Coche-Dury is now overseen by Fabien's cousin Raphael. Fabien has become a prominent figure in the wine industry, achieving notable success in the current generation. Showcasing his expertise and passion, Fabien's impressive collection of vineyards covers approximately 11 hectares, encompassing Meursault, Monthelie, Pommard and Auxey-Duresses. Stylistically the wines at this estate are incredibly pure with little (if any) discernable mark from the hand of the winemaker with new oak at a low 25% and a notable percentage of larger format barrels. I would place the style of his wines in-between that of his cousins Coche-Dury and Roulot. Fabiens wines have the acidity and purity of Roulot without the trademark SO2 which tends to mark Roulots wines when young, and also without the extravagant luxuriant texture that so defines the wines of Coche-Dury. Here we simply find real old vine depth delivering some of the purest expressions of each vineyard site that we have seen right the way through the range from Aligote right to the very top. Vineyard: The vineyard was established in 1940, this estate spans prestigious appellations including AOC Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Auxey-Duresses, and Monthelie, both village and premier cru. The vineyards, covering 12 hectares and have been practicing organic viticulture since 1998. With vine is high ranging from 8000 to 11000 per hectare. Average vine age is impressive here with more than 60% of vines over 60 years old. Winestyle/Cuvee: Coming from 3 parcels ranging from high, middle and lower on the slope close to the border of Pommard in the lieu-dits of Pre de Manche, Dresolles and Peutes Vignes from vines averaging 40 years old. While Meursault is well known for its white wines approximately 5% of the appellation is planted to Pinot Noir (all on the border of Volnay (indeed some of the wines from these vineyards can be classified and labelled as Volnay (like Santenots du Milieu from Comte Lafon). This northern part of Meursault has a vein of limestone marl which is perfect terroir for Pinot Noir. Like all the red wines of this estate this is vinified very gently using the chapeau immerge technique of very gentle extraction which gives very delicate and precise tannins. Using 25% whole-bunch the wine shows lovely raspberry lift with very fine and complex aromas. Very refined tannins with a gentle floating feel and great finesse and length. Like all the reds at this estate this is bottled before the harvest to retain the freshness and elegance inherent in all his red wines. Tiny production and great rarity as Fabien is together with his cousins Coche-Dury one of the few to make Meursault rouge. Well worth seeking out. Nose - Delicate, Ethereal, Fine Lovely raspberry lift with very fine and complex aromas Palate - Silky, Textural, Ripe Red Fruits The wine reveals itself as elegant and balanced. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, offering a pleasant texture. The fruity flavours perceived on the nose are confirmed on the palate, with a dominance of juicy and ripe red fruits. Finish - Mineral, Persistent, Complex One can also notice a slight mineral character that adds complexity to the wine. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation in the mouth.
Domaine Armand Rousseau Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Product Information: Domaine Armand Rousseau ranks with Romanée-Conti, Leflaive, Jacques Prieur, and a small handful of names that are the stuff of Burgundy legend. These domaines produce impeccable quality wines from vintage to vintage, and consistently place Burgundy at the top of the wine world. Each of the domaine’s prestigious holdings are in Gevrey Chambertin, with the exception of Grand Cru Clos de la Roche in Morey-St. Denis. The domaine has 8 hectares of Grand Crus, including in Chambertin and in Clos de Bèze. Rousseau also owns acreage in the famed Premier Cru Clos St. Jacques, and the monopole, Grand Cru Clos des Ruchottes. Director and heir to the domaine, Cyrielle Rousseau, remarks on the stylistic differences of the Grand Cru sites, "Charmes is supposed to be more feminine and elegant than Mazy-Chambertin, which is often more structured. Chambertin is strong and firm, while Clos de Bèze is more delicate and spicy. Each one of the grand crus is so different." Moreover the wines from Gevrey are generally fruitier and spicier than those from Morey Stain-Denis which are quite mineral, tannic and monolithic in comparison. Regarding winemaking, simplicity is key. For all wines around 90% of the grapes are destemmed. All the vine fruit is placed in open stainless steel tanks, where it is fermented for 18 to 20 days. During fermentation between 31-34 degrees, the juice is gently and continuously pumped over with regular treading to release colour and tannins. After fermentation, the wines are delicately pressed in a pneumatic press and are allowed to settle for 24 hours. Finally, the winemaker transfers the wine to oak barrels. Here, malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. The wine is aged for 18 months in before bottling. Every Armand Rousseau wine is released two years after bottling. Maker: Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of Burgundy’s greatest producers. Their wines inspire awe in the fine wine world, with each vintage highly sought after. The domaine was founded at the turn of the last century by its namesake Armand Rousseau, courtesy of a small inheritance of vineyards in Gevrey Chambertin followed by additional vineyards added through marriage. Today, the domaine produces some of the world's most prized wines. Their substantial holdings of Chambertin have accumulated through purchases which span nearly 90 years. The estate boasts a rich history, initiated by the pioneering efforts of Armand Rousseau in the 1930s. Today, his grandson Eric and great-granddaughter Cyrielle are at the helm. The wines produced by this domaine are pale, finely structured and possess great elegance and stamina. The key to the Rousseau style is simple - old vines and sensible yields, with the wines gaining weight and complexity as they age. These wines are highly coveted by collectors and investors due to their limited annual production of just 65,000 bottles. Vineyard: Most of the domaine's prestigious holdings is in Gevrey Chambertin, with the exception of Grand Cru Clos de la Roche in Morey-St. Denis. The domaine controls a remarkable 8 hectares of Grand Crus, including 6.25 acres in Chambertin and 3.45 in Clos de Bèze. Rousseau owns 5.5 acres in the famed Premier Cru Clos St. Jacques, which accounts for 40% of the total acreage, and 100% of the 2.5-acre monopole, Grand Cru Clos des Ruchottes. The Armand Rousseau vineyard plots are located on the eastern and south-eastern slopes of Cote de Nuits, giving the vine plantings ideal sun exposure. The vineyards are planted with old vines that enjoy clay-limestone soils - attributing Armand Rousseau wine's added complexity and concentration. Eric Rousseau practices traditional viticultural techniques combined with modern methodologies to bring out the best expression of his Pinot Noir. This includes Green harvesting helps to reduce yields (30-40 hL per hectare) and produce concentrated fruits. Leaf stripping helps the grape vines get enough sun exposure for ripening. Plowing of the vineyards helps aerate to the soil. Avoiding the use of chemical fertilizers further maintains soil health. Nose - Floral Top Notes, Red Cherries, Turned Earth A discreet application of wood frames pure aromas of red cherries, just turned earth and a floral top note. Palate - Tensile, Fine, Powerful The palate is supple but racy middleweight flavors aren't quite as concentrated but they're finer and more powerful. Finish - Powdery Tannins, Saline, Cherry Inflection Powdery tannins and a saline finish, it will require a bit of patience.

Bannockburn is spicy with well intergraded savoury oak and great acidity backbone. The varietal flavours such as, raspberries, strawberries and red cherries fruits lingers with a faint hint of forest floor on the palate with well supporting tannins.
