The Pooley's planted their first vineyards over 35 years ago in the Coal River Valley of southern Tasmania. In 2013, after working in some of the best wineries around the world, Anna Pooley became the 3rd Generation winemaker of the family business, propelling the estate to critical acclaim. Their vineyards are set on excellent sites that receive very long sunlight hours for optimum ripening while producing fruit with finesse thanks to the close proximity to the cool Tasman Sea. The Butcher’s Hill ‘Oronsay’ Pinot Noir is produced from 20-year-old vines (MV6 clone) on a north-facing slope at 30-100m above sea level. Following a 100% whole bunch fermentation of 21 days, the fruit was pressed to French oak barriques, 40% being new barrels, for 14 months of elevage. Expect a lively acid profile with chalky yet ripened tannin, pronounced weight, aromas of wild cherry, and an underlying savoury character.

The Domaine Faiveley Chambertin Clos De Bèze Ouvrées Rodin Grand Cru 2020 is a wine of immense complexity and depth, representing the very best of Burgundy's winemaking tradition. This Grand Cru is crafted with meticulous attention to detail by the skilled winemakers at Domaine Faiveley. Based in Nuits-St-Georges, the famous Domaine Faiveley was founded in 1825 and in more recent times, the domaine has greatly expanded its vineyards across the entire Côte d’Or. The grapes are entirely de-stemmed and fermented in a mix of new wooden vats for the top end wines and stainless steel for the lesser cuvées. Once notorious for being fairly austere, there has been less emphasis on extraction over the last ten years and the wines show increased freshness, purity of fruit and more judicious use of oak. A contender for one of the most improved domaines in Burgundy over the last decade. Coming from a "Vieilles Vignes" parcel (60 years old), "Les Ouvrées Rodin" is characterised by its elegant tannins and delicate structure. Marthe Sirieys, Erwan Faiveley's great grandmother, had family links with art amateur Maurice Fenaille. In 1885, the latter became Auguste Rodin's patron. In memory of the unique relationship with Auguste Rodin and as a hommage to the timeless works created by him, Domaine Faiveley names this new gem of the Côte de Nuits: "Les Ouvrées Rodin" The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand however the proportion of de-stemmed grapes and whole clusters varies depending on the vintage. The wines are punched down daily in order to extract colour, tannins and aromas from the skin of the grapes. After this wine undergoes a 19 day vatting period, the alcoholic fermentation is complete. The free-run wine is run off using a gravity system whilst the marc is pressed slowly and gently in order to extract an exceptionally pure press wine. Then, the wine is aged for 16-18 months in French oak barrels (60% new oak and 40% one-wine barrels) which have been selected for their fine grain and moderate toast. Finally it is left to age in cellars at consistent, natural hygrometry and temperature. The vines for this wine were planted in 1966. Deep ruby red hue with purplish glimmers. The complex nose offers a combination of fruit, spice and floral notes. The lively palate displays exceptional tension, elegant tannins, a hint of white pepper and menthol notes. Les Ouvrées Rodin is an intense, deep, smooth, elegant and subtle wine and a perfect reflection the character of its historical terroir. Drink now or will age gracefully with careful cellaring until 2055.

Camille Giroud, a Swiss wine merchant, marries Miss Deschamps and takes over her family's wine trade firm, which he renames Maison Giroud Deschamps. In 1903, the company becomes known as Camille Giroud and establishes its premises in Beaune. Unlike other wine merchants, Camille only buys musts and finished wines, relying on his talent as a wine maturer to establish the reputation of his company. After Camille's death, his youngest son, Lucien, takes over and maintains the family tradition. In the 1990s, the company faces financial difficulties and Bernard and François Giroud begin to buy grapes instead of purchasing wine. David Croix joins the Maison in 2001, launching new projects and building a new vat house. In 2002, Ann Colgin and other investors take over the company, with David Croix named as Manager in 2007. The Maison remains exclusive and pursues new projects under the leadership of Carel Voorhuis. Pommard is a village located between Beaune and Volnay in the Côte de Beaune region of France. It is situated in the middle of the slope, in the heart of its grouping vineyard, which is at an altitude between 240 and 380 meters, facing East/South-East. Pommard is known for its full-bodied and tannic red wines made from Pinot Noir, which have been highlighted since the middle ages. The name Pommard is derived from the ancient goddess Pomone, who was venerated by the first inhabitants of Pommard. In 2004, the village was called Polmareum, which later became Pomareum, derived from the Latin word "pomarium" meaning orchard. Camille Giroud Pommard Les Cras 2020 comes from 35-year-old vines located in Pommard, facing East/South-East and at an altitude between 280 and 320 meters. These vines are planted in limestone soil. It reveals notes of wild cassis, juicy quetsche plum, wild strawberry, cherry, rose, lily, pepper and cinnamon.
