Awash with aromatic pomegranate, tamarillo and fresh cherry notes on the nose. The palate has savoury notes of mocha melded with nutmeg and plummy fruit. Fine oak tannins complement weighty stewed plum, dark cherry and raspberry leaving a generous warm finish in the wine.

2023 was a cool vintage that produced exceptional wines across all varieties. Despite the delayed harvest caused by the cooler growing season, we were fortunate to have a mild summer with just a few hot days that allowed our fruit to mature gradually. Consequently, our wines boast complex and elegant flavours, fine tannins, and beautiful natural acidity.

This is Big Sky's flagship wine, from their low vigour, low cropping vineyard. It's made to show off the delicious Te Muna fruit characters - ripe berryfruit, dark cherries and plums – set against mouthfilling savoriness, warm spice, and silky tannins. Lithe and elegant.

From the foothills of the Snowy mountains comes a cool climate Pinot, with lively aromas of tart raspberries, cherries and cranberries. A light international style with layers of fresh fruit and savouriness. The wine’s high natural acidity would prove a nice foil for a confit duck feast. Coppabella is rated 5 Stars by James Halliday and runs the Tumbarumba's second largest vineyard, which in the past has supplied Chardonnay for Penfolds Yattarna. Terrific value.

It was David Duband's father, Pierre, who started the estate in 1965. He bought 15 hectares of land in the then unfashionable Côtes de Nuits, just west of Nuits-St-George, and grew grapes. These he sold to the cooperative in Beaune. In 1991, David joined and the first wine was made at the domaine. He took over four years later. There have been many changes since, with the acquisition of 5 Grands and 7 Premiers Crus and a new winery built in 2007. They have farmed organically since 2006 and introduced whole bunch fermentation since 2008. With wines from 23 Burgundy appellations and listings in over half of France's three-Michelin-star restaurants, David is obviously doing something right! From an exceptional vintage, this is a very fine red.
